Lord of the Rings Theorycrafting on How Social Justice and Hollywood Will Destroy the Tolkien Estate

my prediction on how SJW would "change" the Tolkien Estate :
  • race swapping characters
  • gender swapping characters
  • adding 'alphabet people' characters
  • insert 'orang man bad' or 'white man bad' narrative

Wait till you see Sauron return (because "the power of the Ring could not be undone") with an army of 10,000 dragons (which all explode when our new protagonist defeats him by crossing Aranruth* and Anduril in front of herself, deflecting an energy beam he was shooting at her back at himself).

*The sword of the kings of Numenor, which she found at the Prancing Pony. Numenor sank, you say? A good story, for another time.

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was a staunch Catholic, a monarchist and proudly provincial. The Tolkien Trust funds fairly few Catholic and many international human rights causes. Its English charities would often have been best left unfunded considering the great harm that they do to the ‘shires’ of his land.

In 2018 and 2017, the Tolkien Trust sent a total of 80,000 pounds to Asylum Welcome. AW welcomes "asylum seekers, refugees and detainees" coming to Oxford and Oxfordshire. It boasts of its accomplishments in bringing Sudanese, Somalis, and Syrians to Oxford.

Somehow I have to ask who is in charge of this operation?

From what I can tell-it’s basically like every other trust and “charitable foundation”. And there is no way in Hell Tolkien would have countenanced this if he was alive.

And Christopher Tolkien likely-being an a 93 year old man, had no idea what the money was actually going for. He was probably told it was just charity work.

SEE!!! LORD OF THE RINGS WAS ALWAYS ABOUT SOCIAL JUSTICE!!!(Even though it's creator was a Privileged Cishet White Male and the Orcs maybe a racist take on other races IRL and the Easterlings weren't white and were bad guys)

THEREFORE IT'S COMPLETELY ALRIGHT TO DO THIS STUFF

I know your being sarcastic, but this is precisely and unironically how leftists argue in RL.

Because leftists control their foundations.

What a cunning move,

They’ll get my copies of the Hobbit, The Lord Of the Rings and the Silmarillion when they pry them from my cold, dead hands.

I think that, as long as they don’t get the grubby paws on the novels, we’ve got a chance. If we can survive the mess that was the Hobbit film trilogy, we can probably survive this.

New editions could be made that are more PC or for newer audiences

Robert E. Howard or HP Lovecraft being long dead doesn’t stop people from publishing stuff set in their respective universes and not even fanfiction

One only has to look at Lucas’s modifications to his films to catch a glimmer of how well that would go over...

Yeah, but they can’t replace the originals.

You can edit them though, course I think original versions will still be hanging around somewhere in the internet

That’s the thing about information and online piracy, it’s near fucking unstoppable

Hell, I think in the future, things like how to build mecha would be online, the only limit would be time and resources

Considering Tolkien's strong Christian values and that the movie about him pretty much ignored it (Like having a movie about the Moon Landing not showing them planting the American flag) which is a massive disservice.

Hopefully, whoever takes over from his son, Christopher Tolkien will have the exact same integrity and attitudes. There was also rumours that Disney approached the Estate after Christopher's death though it's unverified so far as I'm aware.

And don't forget, reality is often times reeeeeeeetarded.

Go woke, go broke is appears to be defining factor of a lot of remakes and garbage being thrown out these days. Battlefield V, Star Wars, the series extraordinarily loosely based of Terry Pratchett's Night Watch, Ghostbusters, Men in Black, just about everything DC/Marvel nowadays, Gilette, Charlie's Angels, Terminator etc-etc. We have (to best of my knowledge) two perfect examples of showing that it doesn't pretend to be woke, Joker and The Sonic Movie. Hopefully companies will start to realise that they can earn money by not providing platforms for the "woke" to preach their bullshit at people and by giving the customer what they want.

That article was(thankfully) from 2002.

The LOTR movies were cried out about racism a lot when they were coming out.

You know-it makes me wonder, if these guardian commentators actually are interested in influencing public opinion or simply stroking their own moral stupidity and insanity?

The latter but the first helps reinforce the latter, and if they can’t modify complete public opinion they act as if they just did with only their hardcore readers
