The WHO and Taiwan

Since this wasn't 100% corona related I figured this probably merited being in it's own thread rather then the main Corona one. So, a Taiwanese radio station was having an interview with Dr. Bruce Alyward of the WHO regarding Taiwan and coronavirus and this clip is from it and is making the rounds online right now:

When I initially saw that video I thought it was some kind of fake/joke because of how absurd the whole thing was but looking further into the names and faces confirms that yes that is in fact a senior member of WHO doing his damnedest to either sidestep the question as blatantly as possible and go with the Chinese position on Taiwan. It really adds to the idea that China has a stranglehold over the WHO.

I'd watch this sitcom, what's it called?
If you're asking which organization did the interview it was RTHK news, a Hong Kong news station (though I haven't had much luck finding it on their English website and have 0 chance of finding it on their Chinese language one).

At one point the Wiki page for Alyward mentioned the station under controversy but the current page has since had it edited out (you can still find mentions of it in the previous versions section.

Dr. Aylward is very reliable beyond this of course... look:

WHO back in February said:
But on Tuesday, a World Health Organization expert suggested that does not appear to be the case. Bruce Aylward, who led an international mission to China to learn about the virus and China’s response, said the specialists did not see evidence that a large number of mild cases of the novel disease called Covid-19 are evading detection.

“So I know everybody’s been out there saying, ‘Whoa, this thing is spreading everywhere and we just can’t see it, tip of the iceberg.’ But the data that we do have don’t support that,” Aylward said during a briefing for journalists at WHO’s Geneva headquarters.
...
“What [the data] support is that sure, there may be a few asymptomatic cases … but there’s probably not huge transmission beyond what you can actually see clinically,” Aylward said.

The Facts Now said:
More than 43,000 people in China had tested positive for Covid-19 by the end of February but had no immediate symptoms, a condition typically known as asymptomatic, according to the data. They were placed in quarantine and monitored but were not included in the official tally of confirmed cases, which stood at about 80,000 at the time.
...
All of these numbers point to a significantly higher ratio of asymptomatic cases than indicated by data publicly released by China so far. There were 889 asymptomatic patients among the 44,672 confirmed cases as of February 11, epidemiologists from the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention wrote in a paper published online in JAMA Network Open on February 24.

So just more evidence that the WHO has probably been covering for China... so of course they'll crudely deflect the Chinese issue and even now, still praise them for their response.

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
The mainland chinese scheme to isolate Taiwan from the world at work.

If they succeeded in taking all of their medical resources to go back to mainland china so that Taiwan will beg for it back from big daddy it'll be a success.

Fair enough but there certainly has to be a reckoning with the PRC.

Let it occur from within, caused by their own actions such as their obsession with “Saving Face”

If they resort to actually using tanks on Hong Kong and Taiwan, I think the world may silently admit these guys are more dangerous than they keep trying to say they aren’t

They don't control Taiwan, they do Hong Kong unfortunately. It's pretty likely that if they attacked the ROC. We'd intervene and prevent the conquest.
So how long have the chicomms had WHO on the payroll anyone know?

Honestly, I still think there’s a chance of China flooding the area with their own citizens/supporters to drown out the rebellion

And if Hong Kong-ers dislike these “new Hong Kong-ers” then they can play the victim/underdog card, accuse them of bigotry and with support or idiotic Western Far Lefties attack em

Nope now the ChiComs can certainly flood out Hong Kong. The left loves the PRC though so they aren't going to back the Hong Kongers.

China has a whole bunch of issues and weakness's and so many guns barring down on them that its unknown which one will bring them down. Bad times are coming for china and I dont know if they have enough time to pull that shit.

Japanese Vice Prime Minister Aso Taro in a speech to Japanese parliament condemned the WHO and China's response to what he called "The Wuhan Virus" and even suggested the WHO rename itself the CHO as well as criticizing both China and WHO for their efforts which would result in the cancellation of the Summer Olympics in Japan and for the WHO in continuing to not recognize Taiwan as a country.
