The War in Afghanistan

Do not assume this is a Taliban attack; far more likely it is ISIS-K.

Taliban want/wanted us gone with minimum fuss and to be able to focus on propping up their own legitimacy. Taliban also haven't used suicide tactics in...probably at least a decade; seriously don't remember the last time the Taliban used suicide tactics.

That always seemed to be AQ's and ISIS's thing.

You're right, I was trying to sound sarcastic but it didn't really carry well. I also though there still might be a fair chance it was Taliban members attacking without approval of their own higher-ups, or ISIS-K members who are in the Taliban, etc. Ultimately I don't really think it matters. As soon as we aren't there and they can't come here, they lose any capacity to hurt us.

I would like them to stay long enough to get out the innocent American citizens that are stuck there, and this should have happened in the first place.

If some service members get injured or killed trying to rescue citizens who are most likely going to get killed when we abandon them? Well that's their job.

We never should have pulled out how we did in the first place. We should have evacuated the citizens first.

I want out of Afghanistan, entirely. I also want American citizens to be able to get out of that shit hole.

As I said before - including the "American citizens" who are members of the Taliban? Because getting all "American citizens" out is going to almost certainly going to include taking in actual members of the Taliban. Think about it - how many actual Americans do you think are taking a vacation to Afghanistan, when even months ago most of the country was under Taliban control (Taliban expanded control to include most of the country in 2019-2020 - what we're seeing now is just the city falling), and even if the US government overestimated how long the puppet government would last, their figures were like 6-12 months.

With the exception of government personnel, the "American citizens" stuck in Afghanistan right now are afghanis, who retained substantial ties to the country and think of themselves as afghanis. Some of them are likely Taliban, almost certainly including some who traveled to afghanistan to fight for the Taliban (as many "western national" middle-easterners did for ISIS). Additionally IIRC US government documents published by the Washington Post in 2019 show that towards the tail end of the conflict, afghanis living in America (some of which have American citizenship) realized how lucrative the corruption in Afghanistan could be. To be honest, I think anyone who traveled to Afghanistan to get in on the grift made their own bed.

>Create a situation in unstable, war-torn country known for suicide-bombings where a massive number of people are concentrated into a crowded arena.
>There's a suicide-bombing there.

State Department and Pentagon needs to be evicted of every yabo in the upper-echelons with responsibility for Afghanistan who has supported this shit-show. Anyone with two brain cells and knowledge of suicide-bombing as a tactic would see the potential for this, and it's very much made by how evacuations were done.

Hell, even if ANA had made glorious, months-long stand as expected, this shit could've happened with ease when your sorting system for citizens and refugees is 'gather in a crowd and maybe we'll pull you over the razor wire eventually, lol'.

He literally points out how these are not easy to find. They can be concealed in truck beds and moved before anyone even has a chance to respond.
I know.
Still easy to identify modified vehicles.
We have been doing it for years

Using any of those would guarantee US fight back
Because Mortors are easy to find.
unless planes are in the air I doubt you would have effective counterbattery. identification at a check point? maybe. identification at a glance as it dives among dozens of other vehicles? unlikely.
It feel like he can’t handle any stress at all, if that’s the case, why go for the presidency?
you over estimate the competency of the political class.
I feel bad for everyone involved in this mess…*sigh*
just remember around half of America chose this path. let them see the consequences of voting anyone but orange man.
