The Under Reported Spree of Strikes and Walkouts...

There's been a lot of them so I figure it's worth a thread on its own, especially since it's been yugely underreported by the media. Barely anyone knows about the walkouts of Air Traffic Controllers earlier over Vaccine Mandates and now there's this one pertaining to NYPD City Workers and other Public Servants.

Id like to note that trust busting is a thing.
The "six megacorps control the media" thing is pretty overblow. here's a pretty good takedown of it and it should be noted that some huge influential media voices are definitely not controlled by the "big six". Further, even among the "big six" they're clearly conflict lines, considering that Newscorp (AKA the folks who own Fox News) is one of them and they're WAY out of line with the rest of the mainstream media.

So the media environment is fairly competitive, though it probably is at the point where further consolidation should be prevented.

I thought Disney owned Fox now, or is that just the movie side of it?

Fox is controlled opposition.

Look at how they covered and lied about the Arizona recounts just like the others.

Fox opposes them in ways that they are allowed. To make it look like there's a major opposition out there. When it comes down to it though, they won't cross certain lines.

Tucker is the one with the biggest balls on that station, and I have no doubt he will end up fired for going too far from the allowed talking points one of these days.

Regardless, there's significant media groups that are entirely outside the "Big Six". If you actually looked at the article I linked, rather than knee jerking and assuming I was only talking about Fox, you'd note that iHeartMedia is not one of the so-called "big six", and while you may not recognize their name off the top of your head, I guarantee you've listened to their programming at some point in your life, as they are basically the largest news talk radio company in the US and are the chief distributor of just a few names you might have heard of: Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh.

We are currently at the least monopolistic media and information environment since basically ever. Internet, talk radio, Fox, etc. All of this is killing the monopoly on information.

America is undergoing a great democratization of information, art, celebrity, etc. It's an amazing thing that gives me hope for the future. What we see with attempts to control (see the coordinated release of the "facebook papers" by the media power trying to get more censorship for example) is that it's still a lot better than it was, and competition is increasing. It's not perfect, but it's a ton better.
