That definitely improves the situation with the fighters. I you don't mind continuing criticism, the lines on the DropShips blurred out when you resized them and now they're much fainter, so the DropShips look like they don't belong and darkening them will make the image more unified.

I believe DropShips actually can't be docked while under thrust beyond 0.2 G anyway without damaging the collars, but there's nothing saying how fast that ship is going and I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldn't suggest it for this picture, but if you do this kind of work in the future, I'd avoid putting two spheroid DropShips on opposite sides of a WarShip like that. Human pattern recognition being what it is, someone on the Internet is going to be sure you're drawing male genitalia and official BT images almost always put all the DroShips on one side.

The Dropships were actually completely redrawn from scratch, but with a lower pressure setting for the hull plating. Is this here better with regards to the lineart?

Yes, quite a bit though the lines are still paler than the WarShip they're attached to.

Heh, now that it's zoomed in that much, the groove on the nose of the WarShip looks like a bit like a smiling mouth.

Eh, why not?
Just pretended shock.

So Culsu, what's the expected tonnage on this WarShip? It looks to be roughly 4 times the length of the Unions, which are 80 meters so aprox. 320 meters, which would match up to around the same length as the Pinto (160,000 tons, 298 meters).

She's not a RWR lady, and she's got ~440,000 tons. She's actually slightly longer than 400 meters, so roughly five times as much as the attached Unions. A bit got lost in putting them into perspective, but I did actually measure it from bow to stern and then divide it by five to get the relative sizes right.

Technically she's a refit/overhaul of a derelict Vincent Mk39, but I'm keeping that info low profile until I get the fic she appears in ready. I just wanted to try out the work on the art and got carried away (I even put her name on her, but the file I uploaded intentionally is too small for it to be decyphered). If you go to Sarna you'll quickly see that I simply retraced a good deal of the original ship to get a hang of it.

The bow section is almost identical except for some bulges that made the original look as if it had swollen sinuses, and I've made sure that the weapons are at least somewhat visible on this one (she's got the canon main armament, but additional secondaries). Then I added a contemporary sensor tower on top. Because the Vincents have such a large cargo capacity for their sizes, the refit then completely remodeled the central section to add two dropship collars and space for 18 ASF. Lastly, the stern was changed to have these larger fins (which I might have to rework to appear not quite as massive for no apparent reason) to allow for a quicker deployment of the jumpsail.

Because lets be honest, the actual Mk 39 is a pretty pointless vessel compared to many others in her weight class and below, if you don't have boatloads of them to act in concert with a larger fleet.

In the fic, doing all that and shaking it down took almost eight years, but was deemed acceptable because it was the necessary hands-on experience for the people doing it as they had only recently (re-)built the yards necessary to do so.

*whispers* I've updated it again. Improved those far too bulky fins. It never stops, the work, it never stops... 😆
This is true. I often have to force myself to quit editing a piece and move on to another instead of continuing to polish it.

Left adrift in the icy rings of Griffon VI after the calamity that befell the world of Griffins Roost after the fall of the Star League, the original colonists' descendants stumble across the intact hull of the SLS Morristown, a Potemkin-class troop cruiser that was part of the original colonization effort.

This was done as a commission for @LordSunhawk's Deep Periphery Quest that already had this planetary map and this star system map. The ships were first created as barebones models in Tinkercad, then put into perspective and painted over/expanded on. The rest is digitally hand-drawn in Photoshop.

For the sake of completion here's the ship just as a cinematic illustration:

March 2021 Map Challenge Entry - Space Invaders

Somehow I was able to find some hours between commissions to enter into the #cartographersguild #mapchallenge for March 2021. The topic was Space Invaders. I started with building a generic planet and went wild with the ideas after that. Dropships and other elements are all drawn in the right perspective, models were crafted in #tinkercad or repurposed from other works and painted/drawn in #photoshop. Hope you like it!

And I'm obviously going to re-use it as a base for a "true" BTech illustration at some point.

Are you expanding into environments now?
You mean cities, landscapes, etc.? I like to try out new stuff, and at least trying my hand at some 3d-cityscapes is something I've been wanting to do for some while. As for actual illustrations, I'm probably not good enough for those, but I like to try my hand at them anyways. Besides, some objects are easier to model and draw than others, so if I can do them, why not create a scene with'em?

Y'know, it stucks me as kind of weird when cities as big as Vienna in this case grow so large, despite being seemingly in the middle of a desert with only a river for water. You'd think they are closer to the ocean for a port.
Sure, that'd make a lot more sense. But I don't know anything about the world this takes place in, and it's what the author wanted. *shrugs*
