That's super rare. Like 1 in a million kind of rare. There were more young people that died from COVID itself than that. COVID can sometimes hit even young and healthy people hard.

It's probably a high viral load, unless they've got a compromised system. That's the danger for young people who are in retail or the service industry. So many people coming through, with that virus, can overwhelm them with a large viral load. Hence why they started wanting people to wear masks.

For the record, I personally know at least one person who is dying what can only be described as a slow and horrible death from long-term complications of COVID. Prior to catching COVID, they were young and in generally good health, with a couple of long term issues that were mild and completely under control.

That was one of two local friends who caught COVID; the other one was fine, although he was pretty much *out* of things for a month and a half before recovering and is lucky he was working at a middle class white collar job that didn't fire him for being sick for such an extended period.

I've know four/five people who have had it, most of them 50+ and all came out ok, one was in their thirties and came out feeling rough for months afterwards but by and large has had only a few knockbacks.

Even with all of this deceit and manipulation, there is something uniquely disturbing — creepy even — about becoming accustomed to seeing political and cultural elites wallowing in luxury without masks, while those paid small wages to serve them in various ways are forced to keep cloth over their faces. It is a powerful symbol of the growing rot at the core of America's cultural and social balkanization: a maskless elite attended to by a permanently faceless servant class. The country's workers have long been faceless in a figurative sense, and now, thanks to extremely selective application of decisively unscientific COVID restrictions, that condition has become literal.

Unfortunate but true.

The 'sophisticated, vaccinated crowd' comment was really mask-off on the impetus behind the orders, and the upper-classes flouting of them. [insert well-worn Orwell Animal Farm reference where this behavior is modeled by pigs in allegory about the USSR].

All of my 60+ aunts got the 'Rona. Two of them are diabetic and one more takes rad therapy for Cervical cancer. None of them were any sicker than them getting a cold and all of them recovered well.

So I believe this "pandemic" is a crock of bull.
Both my parents got it, father barely felt it, mother was basically out of commission for a week, described it as the worst sickness she has ever felt, like no flu she ever had. She was so dizzy she basically had to crawl against the wall just to get to the bathroom for a week.

And both parents complained even months later that they felt more breathless and not as mentally sharp since getting sick.

My mother is completely healthy and is still working, at a demanding, exhausting job. She's as spry as a woman half her age.

The corona virus is real, your aunts were lucky, and basing your perception of the disease only on your personal experience is brick stupid.

On another note, got the 3rd booster jab a couple of days ago. Temperature rose the day after, but it's back down now. Caught me by surprise since I didn't get anything like that after my first two injections, and ruined some plans I made... But I'm fine now, and a minor side effect is worth it for the protection from COVID.

Although I have to admit, a lot of my motivation for doing it comes from the "green pass" system my country uses. Without a green pass (which is obtained by either vaccinating or getting COVID and recovering) you can't currently get into many public places, such as restaurants, cafes and other food joints. The government did revoke the need for a green pass when the vaccines destroyed the COVID curve last spring, but since the delta variant appeared and started ravaging the country they reinstated it, and recently even decided that it will be issued only for people who took booster shots.

I'm divided on this, as I can see both sides of the debate: on one hand society has to protect its weakest members (and anyone who wants to argue with me on this can preemptively fuck right off, that's what I personally believe and you won't convince me otherwise), on the other hand personal liberty is one of the most sacred values of western civilization.

At least the current prime minister is very anti-lockdown compared to Netanyahu. Under Netanyahu we had 3 major lockdowns in a year. Bennett so far is refusing to approve even one lockdown despite skyrocketing cases (and is getting much flak over it from his rivals). The green pass system is the alternative that's in place instead (although it started under Netanyahu, in the last couple months of his term).

An interesting story regarding this "green pass" system, since children under 12 were not approved for the vaccine, the only way for them to get a green pass was to get COVID and recover. This resulted in a rash of mothers trying to purposely expose their kids to people sick with COVID so they can get sick, recover and get the pass. It was major news a few weeks back. Some people will do anything to be able to bring their kids to social events and vacations apparently. It's certainly a flaw in the system.

Natural immunity is more robust than any vax, and no social pass system can change that.

Those parents who want their kids to get it and recover are doing the smart thing.

Everyone on the planet is going to get this damn bug at some point now, because it's now endemic.

Kids have the most robust immune systems, and we know how to help people beat the virus using theapurtics instead of an indefinite amount of vax and booster shots. Joe Rogan used Ivermectin and a few other things to get over it recently.

I think I had it early on in mid Feb of 20, from what we learned later about how far it had spread out of China and the CCP lies from early on. Knocked me on my ass for a few days, after I got it from a coworker who was hacking and coughing all over the break room. He only took 1.5 days off, and was still symptomatic at work in the store; I took 5 days off till I was completely unsymptomatic and no longer had a fever.

I went along with the mask shit and all the other stuff, the whole 15/45 days to slow the spread, because we didn't know about the CDC funding for the Wuhan lab or Fauci's direct connections to it. Then George Floyd happened and the mask slipped on what the virus mitigation measures and the lockdowns were really about; not preserving ICU space, but about power and control while getting people to indefinitely give up their liberties, voluntarily at first.

Most of this vax/virus stuff is medical theater at this point, the same way the American TSA is mostly security theater.

Covid was stronger in Wuhan
Yep, it definitely appeared that way at first.

Later on we learn the Chinese had such shit air quality from pollution that much of their populace has compromised respiratory systems to begin with in Wuhan, and the completely undiluted/unmutated version of the bug was hitting people by surprise and in those clustered apartment buildings the HVAC spread the shit from seemingly out of nowhere.

The docs didn't know exactly what they were dealing with, and it was also not obvious that it had the spike proteins not found on normal coronavirus.

That's true, that's why those who recovered are not required to take the vaccine to get the pass.

Fuck hell no. A much larger risk to a child from COVID than from the vaccine, plus in the meantime the child may infect yet more people.

Yes, but it's in our interest that it doesn't happen all at the same time. Rather, even if we assume that it's inevitable that 100% of the population will get infected at one point or another, we still want to spread that out, so that no too many people are infected at the same time.

Kids can still die from covid.

I like Joe, but what he did is not exactly science, it doesn't prove a thing and as far as I'm concerned he's full of shit on this point.

And that's why the entire world, including frigging Iran, is colluding with this evil American conspiracy. That's why in India they burned hunderds of thousands of corpses right on the streets, because it's fake. Fuck, at least the "moon landing was a hoax" theory was harmless...

Having been to China several times in the past decade (mostly to visit grandparents and relatives), I can confirm that the air in big cities is the most godawful thing ever.

It's like 90% CO/CO2, and 10% O2 and other stuff. Definitely not good for the lungs and I thank my parents for immigrating to Canada before I was born.

Kids can still die from covid.
Tigers can die from covid.

Your point?

Trump's malaria drug thing is the real deal.

If it can save a 70 year old man, it can save others.

In India, it was the malnourished poor that died the most, because they don't even have enough food much less an immune system and medicine.

@Bacle's point is that covid no longer presents a threat to 1st world, western countries anymore and that the restrictions placed on us are just a way to strip us of our rights and freedoms.

I mean, just look what's happening in Australia. Place is going back to it's roots as a penal colony with the way they're treating protestors.

And isolating them from all the other pathogens they're expected to catch at their age is any healthier than building up immunity to a virus as wimpy as a bad flu?

Kids can still die from covid.
And kids are way more likely to die in car accidents, your point?

Yes, but it's in our interest that it doesn't happen all at the same time. Rather, even if we assume that it's inevitable that 100% of the population will get infected at one point or another, we still want to spread that out, so that no too many people are infected at the same time.
So just like with outbreaks of common viral diseases that we've always lived with for hundreds of thousands of years?

Out of a billion people there. Not even 1 million I bet.

So I'm still coughing and suffering chills five weeks after getting vaccinated. I called my home doctor this morning and got a call back in the evening where an irate nurse told me there was no way I was suffering ill effects five weeks after getting the vaccine, and also I would not be allowed to come into the office as I'd reported symptoms.

I'm calling the county office in the morning to lodge a complaint, I'm severely ticked off by their minimizing it.
