Well, they got those at-home tests and both tested positive. Mom lost her sense of smell. She's the one I'm more worried about because she is diabetic. They both feel it in their sinuses as well.

Speaking of tests...

HUGE! CDC Withdraws Use of PCR Test for COVID and Makes Shocking Admission (steadfastclash.com)

Meat: CDC finally admits the PCR test can't differentiate between Covid and Flu.

This is incorrect. It is important to understand that there is no *one* "PCR test for COVID"; PCR is a widely used genetics lab technique* which is used for many purposes. Even in the specific context of COVID, there are many different PCR tests used.

The test that the CDC is withdrawing is the original "2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel", which is a single-vector PCR assay for COVID only, and the CDC statement makes *no* admission of inaccuracy; they are withdrawing this test from use because it has been rendered obsolete by multiple alternative tests.

The CDC test which certain groups claim fails to differentiate between COVID and "regular" flu is the newer Influenza SARS-CoV-2 (Flu SC2) Multiplex Assay, which as its name implies is a three-in-one test for COVID, Flu-A, and Flu-B. This is a different test entirely and isn't even mentioned in the CDC's withdrawal statement. It is mentioned in the CDC's subsequent clarifying statement, but is clearly identified as a different test. The CDC has not withdrawn this test, or made any "admissions" as to its alleged inaccuracy.

*This is a topic where I have firsthand professional expertise. PCR assays were literally my bread and butter when I was an intern at City of Hope National Medical Center, and again when I was working for Dr. Ed Lewis at Caltech.

The ChiComs finally got me with their Commie Cough. Got the Salvia/PCR test on Tuesday but thanks to lab delays due to WuFlu illness (the irony) it took three times the errr time to get the results back.

One day was really bad and I spent the previous night unable to sleep and the following day half bedridden. I also ate egregious amounts of food, like a whole thin crust pizza. But ever since then it's like like a bad cold I'm recovering from. Congestion. Chills. Fatigue. There was a headache for a while. One night while sleeping I was partially soaked in sweat though so who knows. Never felt feverish or loss of taste or taste for human flesh or anything.

Just drank a lot of fluids, took cough medicine, Aleve for the headaches. Afrin for the nasal congestion.

Was vaxxed back in the Spring, didn't get a booster though.

I'm basically over all the symptoms, except for stuff relating to my sinuses. The congestion itself is mild, but the real problem with it is that it drains down my throat and causes me to have coughing fits randomly. Also my voice box feels clogged basically all the time.

My parents actually made out better than I did. Neither of them got a fever. They both got the same sinus issue I have, and Mom lost her sense of smell for a while, though she is kind of getting it back currently. She also had fatigue and loss of appetite, but she's over that now. They were both triple vaxxed.

Steam showers and spicy foods; they do wonders for lingering nasal conjestion.

Was around a coworker a lot the other day and she was feeling bad; didn't think it was COVID at first because she had already recently been sick with it. It got worse as the day went on and I finally talked her into one of those rapid tests; she tested positive right in front. Wasn't too worried at first, I had been vaccinated last year but started feeling bad a few days ago and finally took a PCR rapid test yesterday; positive.

Currently feel like I've been hit by a truck but hey, a five day paid vacation is kinda nice lol. Sore throat, coughing, fever, and fatigue have been the worst of it so far; smell and taste is significantly reduced but that could just be sinuses. Feeling overall very grumpy, largely because of not feeling good.

Oh no my husband and I had COVID. Don't worry we aren't dead. We didn't even know we had it. I'll acknowledge that the first strain of COVID was bad. That said if what we had is the end of human civilization maybe it's just our time.🙄 Seriously morning sickness was worse than this.

...First of all we got a thread for the corona virus here.

Secondly this thread is made in poor taste considering corona while barely noticable in some cases has killed in others the many close ones of co-workers, familly, and friends of family, myself included.

I understand and realize that dems have used this crisis to further their goals and have overblown it in some cases to that end, but that doesnt change the fact that not everybody I know personaly hasn been as lucky as you or your spouse in staying alive.

You're right, you're right. Guess I'm just so ticked off and frustrated with how overblown and politicized this whole thing has become. I shouldn't post angry.

Fair point, but it's also fair to share your experiences whether it's severe or mild for you.

My friend's dad almost died. They were on the border of putting him on a vent but he started to improve. Was still on O2 for months after that...

For me, I got a fever and felt like I had a moderately bad flu for 3 days. Headache lingered for 4 more days but on day 4 I was lifting in my home gym and went running.

I would put it on the same level as a bad flu I had a few years back, which also gave me the chills.

I'm currently hospitalized for a stubborn infection (surgery's todaytomorrow*).

I haven't been asked about my vax status. Blood work probably tells them all they need to know: doesn't have COVID, the vax can wait.

* EDIT: gotta love OR scheduling when the hospital also handles Level 1 Trauma ...
