May the best team win and may there be no fighting about who deserved to win when all is said and done aside from what Scotty Pippen said in '98 when he was on the winning side: "I don't think the better team won."
Something tells me the Aces will win because they're damn good. Bummed that my beloved Storm lost (I'm a lifelong fan of the Seattle Storm with four WNBA championships in 2004, 2010, 2018, 2020)

The Connecticut Sun blew out the Aces earlier this evening 105-76. Aces lead the series 2-1 in the best of 5.

Still think the Aces win it all!
"It ain't a series until someone loses at home."

On another note, three hilarious instances of the Pacers taking advantage of an opponent's screw up come to mind. I think the Celtics were victim all three times. I know they were for at least one ...

- The guy who was supposed to shoot the free throws committed a technical foul and was ejected or feigned an injury ... allowing the Pacers to pick who shot the free throws. The Pacers picked a rookie who missed both free throws.
- A baseline inbounds pass was a little too accurate an went in from 90ft away instead of being caught or tipped, resulting in a turnover instead of a basket.
- The Celtics weren't guarding the guy tossing the ball inbounds. Paul Pierce had his back turned, got hit in the back by the inbounds "pass" and time expired while he was chasing after it.

Highlights of the '98 Eastern Conference Finals:

I forgot that Reggie Miller played part of the third game and games four through seven with a sprained ankle.

Scotty Pippen was right when he basically said that the Pacers were the better team because the Pacers were up by three with 9 minutes to go in Chicago despite their best player basically limping for four games straight.

The refs basically handed that one to the Bulls.

Assuming 24 years later, you're still upset? I mean Pacers did go to the 2000 NBA Finals losing to the Lakers in six games.

Assuming y'all heard about the explosive scandal involving Boston Celtics HC Ime Udoka, who was exposed for having an inappropriate relationship with female staffer and violation of team rules?

Udoka got suspended for the 2022-23 Season.

PS: He's also engaged to actress Nia Long 🤔
No, I haven't heard about it, and please stop tagging me in this thread. I'm not interested.

Not really upset anymore. More like miffed because the Pacers were the only team during the Bulls 2nd 3-peat which actually had a chance of defeating the Bulls. When the Bulls went 72-10 and practically waltzed their way to the trophy a Pacers team with a losing record was the only team the Bulls lost to twice during the regular season.

In 2000 the Pacers were in decline and about to be dismantled and rebuilt while Shaq and Kobe were just getting started.

I believe Larry Bird resigned as Pacers HC after losing Game 6 of the 2000 NBA Finals to the Lakers.

The Western Conference took off and began their dominance of winning NBA championships beginning in 1999 with the Spurs.
Three ABA titles aside (which don't count according to the NBA) the Pacers have a long history of "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride." when they're good. To a lesser extent the Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves do too.

It takes a really special type of very good player for them to say "I'd prefer to stay in this boring small town" instead of going for the money, glitter, and glamour the "big cities" have to offer.

Some examples: Reggie Miller, Rik Smits, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Lt. David Robinson, Tim Duncan

- Reggie played for UCLA and knew the pitfalls of LA.
- Rik's son is an allumni of the public HS my daughters attend. He also races dirtbikes and it's hilarious to see someone 7'4" jump a dirtbike designed for a teenager who is at most 5'8".
- John effectively said he wore short shorts for his entire career because no one thought to ask him if he wanted knee-length ones.
- Karl owned a semi-tractor and was a truck driver during the off-season. The wiki article on him doesn't mention that.
- David? The USN would need to modify a ship's officer's quarters so that he could stretch out while off-duty while not on the deck.
- Tim plays DnD (yes, he's a nerd like us) and his side contracts were for promoting things like dress shoes and other boring stuff .

EDIT: Rik is the only one who isn't in the Hall of Fame and Karl is the only one who played for more than one NBA team.

Robinson (1999, 2003) and Duncan (1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2014) won NBA championships with the Spurs.
