Nice, let's make the characters extremely balanced racists. Actually that's important; since these kingdoms would have at least a sizeable population of their royal families' race, and they have open diplomatic relations with each other, how 'bout that racism, Love?
That's the kind of question that doesn't happen often, and we should really appreciate it.
Well, I don’t really know what “racism” is, considering how broad the definition is. I mean, climate change and AI are racist. Not judging people by their race is racist. Criticizing a person with a different race is racist. Etc. So I’m going to assume “racism” means “negative race relations.”
Considering that our nations are very close neighbors, engage in constant trade, and are allied against the same enemies, racism is probably pretty minimal. But maybe I'm misunderstanding you?
Race relations between civilized races in the kingdom are pretty good for those reasons. Elves might have negative stereotypes of dwarves, and dwarves might have negative stereotypes of elves, but they all play nice since they gotta live together, and if there’s a goblin invasion, they can count on each other.
No, that was essentially my question. But that's probably the state of affairs between the kingdoms; I was just asking for the sake of fleshing out the setting a bit more, since it would be important for our characters to be aware if there happens to be a mega-racist village a couple miles down the road from the starting location. Although, your point was very good, so I guess there probably isn't.
Different localities are going to have different views about different racial groups depending on how those racial groups behaved in that local area. For instance, if you go to an Elven Community where most of the humans are assholes, and your character is a human, you will be associated with those assholes. That’s how that works in real life, and that’s how it works here.
