Since I've been referencing it to folks other places, might as well do so here.
From La Legende du Roi Arthur:
Coming after Arthur draws the sword from the stone and Maleagent is upset at a bastard taking the throne instead of himself--the true king and all that.

Translation for the lazy:

At the time when the sun rises,
They’ve just assassinated my dreams,
Hear my rising pain:
How do I stay silent
When they bury me?

Must I bend down,
And plead
With fate?
Cross swords
To defy it
Again?
(Never!)

(Come what may)*
I am war
(War, you will wage it)
Up until losing all sense
(Come what may)
I am Hell
(Hell, you will live it)
No more prayers

Nobody above me any longer,
Nobody will dictate to me any longer
What my Way of the Cross will be.
Why silence myself
When they bury me?

Must I love
In order to thwart
Death?
Everything leads us
To say “Amen”
Again
(Never!)

(Come what may)
I am war
(War, you will wage it)
Up until losing all sense
(Come what may)
I am Hell
(Hell, you will live it)
No more prayers

My hopes which take flight,
My story, pushed to the depths,
It’s glory which they steal from me,
Do they dare to pay me the offence
Of wanting to soil my name?
No, no, no…
(Never!)

(Come what may)
I am war
(War, you will wage it)
Up until losing all sense
(Come what may)
I am Hell
(Hell, you will live it)
No more prayers

(Come what may
War, you will wage it)
No more prayers
(Come what may,
Hell, you will live it)

*From what I was told, 'advienne que pourra' here meaning 'come what may', is the second half of a French saying that means something like 'serve your king', so it's all ironic and sarcastic here.

Translation for the lazy:
One false step, one too many
Better not fall from on high
I am the evil that I've suffered
You endanger your alibi
We don't choose where we come from
We choose what we become
Who's to blame? The blame's on life
It's not my fault, but that's how it is

Here below, Tir Nam Beo
My fight, Tir Nam Beo
Here we are, unveiled
We must let it all go
Dum dalidum dalidum daliladouday
Here below, Tir Nam Beo
My fight, Tir Nam Beo
Here we are, unveiled
Where does that lead, all of that, hey?
Dum dalidum dalidum daliladouday

You destroy all that you love
I destroy what you sow
Love is not a tragedy
I carry the weight of your unspoken words
There are no wounds made in vain
I am the past that I drag along
Who's to blame? The blame's on life
It's not my fault, but that's how it is

Here below, Tir Nam Beo
My fight, Tir Nam Beo
Here we are, unveiled
We must let it all go
Dum dalidum dalidum daliladouday
Here below, Tir Nam Beo
My fight, Tir Nam Beo
Here we are, unveiled
Where does that lead, all of that, hey?
Dum dalidum dalidum daliladouday

We will go the distance
Despite all those who condemn us
Dalidum dalidum dalidum dalidum dalidum...
We will go the distance
Despite all those who condemn us
Dalidum dalidum daliday-ay

Nothing is important any longer
Despite all those who dalidum
Dalidum dalidum daliladouday

Here below, Tir Nam Beo
My fight, Tir Nam Beo
Here we are, unveiled
We must let it all go
Dum dalidum dalidum daliladouday
Here below, Tir Nam Beo
My fight, Tir Nam Beo
Here we are, unveiled
Where does that lead, all of that, hey?
Dum dalidum dalidum daliladouday
Ooh!

In a vaguely-related theme to 'villain songs' from musicals in general...
If you haven't seen it and at all like musicals, Chicago is a good one to check into

When you think about how this video was made, the music is very impressive. That's got to be a noisy machine, so the post-processing they did to get minimize the creaking and clacking so you can hear the music is impressive.

Also, I imagine that the falling ball bearings were hard to time so they hit the keys in tune.

This is just a prototype. Wintergarten is working on a steel machine, and I look forward to seeing it in action. But will the final version still use Lego pieces to encode the music?

In this edition: Covers that are better than the originals!

I like bubblegum pop-y, vapid, 'sing-about-singing-and-dancing' bullshit. I can't help it. I don't know why. And I liked the...sentiment...of Tones and I 'Dance Monkey', but I couldn't get over that verbal trill or whatever it is (I am not musically educated...As my love for pop probably demonstrates :p ) that might or might not be autotune? But whatever it is just grated on my ear like nails on a chalkboard.
So a cover I found that took the song in more of a lounge-style, gradual-change direction really appealed to me.

(Gabriella Valdes seems to just be starting out, too. So...uh...Indy-cred, I suppose? I dunnow, just seems worth mentioning).

I'm pretty sure this is completely and totally noncontroversial, but Johnny Cash's rendition of Hurt is, I'd say, better than the original. Maybe that's partially my weakness to the guy's peculiar rough singing voice, but I think a lot of it is just how damn emotional it sounds coming from him.
The video just emphasizes that as well.

As I recall, it's less a 'cover' and more a song Neil Young allowed to sample his original and then that reimagined the same sentiment into its own work...But I still like it. Maybe not 'better than the original' outright, but...Different styles of good?

(Another Redlight King work folks might appreciate if they're at all down with that kind of alt-rock genre is 'Bullet in my Hand')

This one's outright tongue-in-cheek, and a lot of it is very generic metal-y...But I've already mentioned my weakness for generic metal, and some of the songs he's covered are just fun reimagined as metal.

Head over heels in love :)
One of the more emotional songs, I know Abba used to get ridiculed a lot, not so much in recent years though. Although they deny it, the fact that the marriages of the group were breaking up at the time adds to this song.

Apologies for the double post. King Arthur was a mediocre film at best buy had a wonderful soundtrack, primarily by Hans Zimmer. Moya Brennan of Clannad fame and elder sister to Enya did this song.
