These can somewhat pertain to what is going on.

Especially this one

Ah I love the smell of missile spam in the morning
I really enjoy Insaneintherainmusic's channel over on YouTube. He does all sorts of video game music redone into jazz and in various styles of jazz to boot. Here's a sample

Whilst cleaning out old storage-containers, I stumbled across something interesting...and terrifying.
From the turn of the millenium! That odd time after anti-skip CD players, but before the Ipod!

This exact model, too
Me and my sister's old Mini-disk player--the Walkman's strange cousin who has been removed from the family's will because of his weird proclivities. Alongside of it was a package of the mini-disks...And all of it still worked! Just slap in a new battery and load things up. Three cheers for Japanese engineering?

Thus I embarked into a journey into two-decade old music taste from my childhood, and I invite folks to follow-along for giggles. If I do not return from this rabbit-hole, know that I am happy and content with the musical stylings of millenium-pop. :p
And, in amusing twist...this might take a while. These disks could fit a surprisingly large amount on them. I've only gotten through one thus far and there's...a dozen or so. Probly just hit highlights for flavor (and maybe that I'd actually recommend :p )...

Start strong with Bon Jovi. It's My Life. Full-bore teenager anthem. Guess the cliche fit.
The video is a time-capsule itself as well...

Then go into a procession of various stuff that makes me think this might be a recording of one of those 'Now that's what I call music!' compilations or similar. There's Jennifer Lopez (Play) and Destiny's Child (Bootylicious), for example and other stuff (Janet Jackson, Nsync, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears (Oops, I did it again! Wooh! Still fun!)...Just a procession of pop-hit wonders from the period).

Beginning a bit of a pattern of genre-shift? Next get 'The Wiseguys'.
The who, you ask?
Yeah. Iunnow, but you might recognize one of the songs...Still dig it, honestly...
Would this be, like, rockabilly or what?

The genre-shift continues into rap? Get early Eminem stuff (clearly recorded off the radio) and Dr. Dre because if it was cool on the coasts, clearly it was cool in Middle-America! And then cementing the cool factor? More rap that, near as I can figure, we stole off friends playstation console from a Tony Hawk game and a skiing one (a lot not anything I can actually find on the internet).

And then it turns into a LOT of electronica/techno/dance or whatever you call that genre of music that's all bells and whistles and synth. I think I even found the exact CD it consists of

In related comment, I learned the name of that ONE song they always play at sports games and rodeos and everything else? 'Kernkraft 400' is one people might recognize, but I sure never knew what the heck the name of it was since the only LYRICS are 'wooah'.

Disc concludes from there with a mess of heavy metal from Rob Zombie (dragula, etc.), System of a Down (bounce, etc.) and Disturbed (sickness, etc.).

Episode II of 'prinCZess digs through 2-decade old trash music on obsolete format for potential gems (or mockery) to be found within'

We start our mini-disc journey with...The Mortal Kombat Movie Soundtrack.
The entire Mortal Kombat Movie Soundtrack.
*sigh*
Young-me was a fricken' nerd (I say, on the sci-fi/fantasy media and creative-writing forum...)
Still, some catchy stuff. One by 'Type O Negative' being noteworthy for kind of doing a...grunge-y, Nirvana-sounding type of blues song? The singer has a neat voice I think, and I might need to check out more of their stuff...

Continuing the turn-of-the-millenium cringe-music!

One of the 'classic rock' stations where I live has actually taken to playing this.
I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THAT! On multiple reasons! Like...It's not 'classic', it's barely 'rock', and I'M NOT OLD, DAMMIT!

A J. Lo album that was ripped from some friends makes an appearance (Don't sue me record companies!), As does another...interesting, period piece?

Like...I don't even know what to say. It's so 90s it's painful and it's, like, Disney/Nickelodeon 'rock'?
I'm pretty sure it exists because I saw the video on MTV and was entranced by cheese-grater ABS to overcome the music...Don't blame me! I was young and impressionable...and...horny... 🥵

Moving on!

Disc continues with a backup/different-technology-recording of Shakira's 'Laundry Service' album ('Whenever, Wherever' remains a damn-fun song) that I did actually buy in that late-day of the compact disc.

Closes with some really bad recordings of just...radio. Which is fascinating as a time-capsule, but not really easy-listening or something to recommend (commercials haven't changed much in twenty years, I can say).

My God. These two! First Movie I remember as a child. The music was amazing. Everytime I hear them or watch the movie it takes me back. Nostalgia tripping hard!
