Star Wars The Mandalorian

So when is the Mandalorian supposed to take place?
After RoTJ and before TFA. Right after RoTJ
It's supposed to be 9 ABY, so five years after RotJ. (Of course, depending on what time-scale you use, a mere five years can easily qualify as 'right after'.)

Anyway, as far as ages go, Sabine will be c. 30 at this time, and Ahsoka c. 45. -- and this is all set five years after the epilogue of Rebels, which is itself set five years after the end of the main series.

Ashoka has already been confirmed to be in it. We just don't know when.

Yeah I heard. I'm just expressing my preference. Obviously the Jedi will have to feature in the story but I'd prefer something more Mandalorian and non-Jedi focused generally speaking if there was a tradeoff.

Technically, Ashoka did beat Maul; she could have claim the Mando throne, if she wanted to do that.

Yeah I didn't see all of the Clone Wars actually but from what I did see of the Mandalorians in the Clone Wars in random clips and comments it didn't really appeal to me.

I know beating the top Mandalorian and getting to be in charge and top Mandos getting beat by Jedi is a KOTOR long tradition but I really don't wanna see the Mandalorians going full Wakanda style succession regardless of context, even if only done as a "clever" plot point. :p

Edit:
No one should listen to me anyways. I'm picky with my Mandalorian lore. I wasn't a big fan of the Traviss stuff in regards to the Mandalorians either.

I dug the KOTOR stuff and the earlier Legends comics/books about Jango Fett and his adventures with the Mandalorians and Bobas attempts to revive them many years later in the post Endor canon.

The Rebels stuff was neat too. As was this TV series as well despite things about their practices that made me go 'Hmmm' every so often.

See, I never played KOTOR, or any of its spin-offs, and never read any of Traviss's crap, so I don't have any of that baggage tainting my view of the current Mando stuff.

LOL KOTOR as tainted baggage.

That's not even the point i was making. If anything playing the games enhanced my appreciation for the recent animated and cartoon series. It certainly didn't taint my opinion on it's quality. A good product is a good product.

I guess my opinion isn't influenced by tainted crap/baggage of the later seasons of the Clone Wars though? :p

Like I dont even think like that. It seems insufferably smug.

The point is (and I admit it's probably wrong) that Id prefer less Jedi crap and more Mandalorian crap if there's a choice to be made. So more Sabine, less Ajsoka if we must have more tie ins. (y)

You both don't know the real Mandos then! Traviss not only helped create the language used by the Mando clans charities, as well as make them the jedi killing badasses.
I like my KOTOR ones as well, but I love my Traviss Mandos!

You Mando heathens!

Meh, I'm a Corellian anyway. I'd prefer to be a Chiss, but don't have the temperament for it.

For those interested in (potential, but in this case highly probably real) spoilers, there seems to be some big news regarding Temuera Morrison's role in season 2. His talent agency has updated his CV just today (possibly a bit sooner than was advisable), and it lists who he'll be playing...

...namely Boba Fett. (No mention of him also playing Rex, by the way.) Unless it gets edited away, you will be able to see it for yourself here.

This seems to be pretty damn credible -- although an error, or a very thorough fake-out, of course can't be ruled out entirely.

I've obviously spoilered it, so... don't click that box unless you really want to know.

Well this is a nice surprise; figured Disney might leave Boba as Sarlacc food.

Now, did he blast, detonate, or simply crawl out of it's gut.

Giancarlo Esposito appeared on one of those Emmy pre-show talks yesterday, where he spoke about the series. "We’re living in a universe that is huge and there’s so much to explore. So I think this show is going to lay the ground work for the depth and breath that’s gonna come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers."

Sounds promising.

In other news: apparently, the first Episode of the new season will be numbered as "Chapter 9". This would suggest that they're treating the whole series as a continuous story.

I'll be honest... The series experienced rapid villain decay when Moff Gideon showed up. Giancarlo Esposito was fine in Breaking Bad but his character here lacked all the nuance and subtlety of that one. Just too try hard and too smug. Like I get it... Really.

Plus unless it's Vader executing people for failure, I loathe the Imperial proclivity for executing people for nebulous reasons. Especially since Werner Herzogs character was just so interesting and well done.

But what's done is done. Overall even the weakest parts of The Mandalorian were still pretty good. Hopefully they refine the Moff character more in the subsequent seasons.

I really hope they do, Since people said Mandolorian started to go down from the Tatooine episode

Dude, Gideon is a relative of Tarkin and former ISB, from what bits of the lore say.

A Tarkin playing the villian for the show, particularly one that has procession of the Darksaber and is former ISB, is ripe for all sorts of cool shit.
