Its an attempt to copy what Larry Elder just did in California. Elder just forced the Democrats to dump over 200 million dollars defending their throne state from a 20 million dollar recall attempt. The Dems want to return the favor and its honestly a good use of Robert O'Rourke.
Beta Boy is played out in serious politics. He burned far too many bridges during the 2020 primaries and with his record finally out in the open the trick he pulled in 2018 where he tried to slide into office without anyone checking his policy won't work anymore. But he does have a high Q-rating(name recognition), has a decent sized fanbase in Texas, and is still a liberal media darling meaning that an attempt at the governor's mansion has to be taken seriously, especially with Abbott's approval drooping. It'll force the GOP to drop money defending Texas that they'd prefer to use somewhere else.
Expect a circus around the new abortion law, Ercot's many recent fuck-ups, and Covid horseshit. Do not expect him to play so hard on his immigration banjo since that one doesn't play as well anymore. If you live in Texas and have friends or coworkers that are considering the little weasel just pull out his anti-gun record and his extensive, aristocratic rules-for-thee rap sheet.
I cannot fully verbalize on the internet my contempt for this rich, spoiled, feckless little twat and I want him in Texas' rear view mirror as quickly as possible.

1.) Sweep the Rio Grande Valley
2.) Win 16%-25% of African Americans (Abbott got 16%-20% in 2018 against Valdez)
3.) Crank up 50+% of Latinos (Abbott won 42% of Latinos)
4.) Win Independents overwhelmingly
5.) Win 230+ out of 254 counties.

I have seen that stuff, and it's given me the oddest sense of...I don't know, cynical ennui combined with utter alienation from these people.
I'm 90% sure it's a ploy to produce a headline-grabbing news item to overshadow 'The US oopsie'd a family with that fancy sword-shooting drone-missile', the absolute shitfest that section of the border has been for days now (and more broadly has been for months), the hangups in Congress on bills, faltering stock market, and everything else...And hey, it can conveniently be foisted on either a red-state governor or the CBP, and that's a winning news cycle in comparison for the Biden admin...
And then I have that 10% of naggling doubt that tells me that no...This could really just be people being that stupid. People who have never ridden a horse, never so much as seen a horse being ridden...Even in a western movie. A part of me that says this is just the urbanized idiots who think milk comes from a factory somewhere.
And that gets me pondering how it's viable to share a country with people like that. I mean...you could say it even runs the other direction with stuff like the Met Gala, maybe? But either way...
Honestly kind of the same bizarro-feeling watching the ongoing gun 'debate' tends to produce--there's either a massive cultural divide there, or people cynically expanding/making one to try and benefit themselves, and either way that's depressing--but in an oddly hilarious way at this point with how widespread the story becomes.

I’ve watched several videos the border guard are using split long reins I haven’t seen anyone whipping the reins at someone in any of the videos some people in the comments in some of the videos is saying one of them has a horse whip but I didn’t even see it and even if he did I didn’t see any of them try to hit anyone
But there are people in the comments sections watching the same videos and saying this is inhuman to the migrants and they saw people being whipped and I feel like I’m going crazy they legit are seeing reality differently to me my brain hurts
Also prinCZess your entire comment encapsulated my feelings I’ve read and heard comparisons to how it’s like certain sections of America are basically in a parallel universe but to see people watch the same thing happen and get different facts out of it is mind blowing
