United States The Left Can't Meme

Come to think of it, why would someone be giving a presentation on memes of all things? Granted, I suppose it'd make an interesting field of study from a sociology or media-studies standpoint, though considering how Woke universities are today, I question how much use Johnson's efforts would be.

It's all in how you word it.

The Korean War wasn't an invasion of another country, Korea should be united.
The beating the Norks took in the Yom Kippur war (No really, they were in the mix too sending forces to invade Israel) wasn't invading another nation, Israel should be considered a rogue state.
And the Battle of Amami-Ōshima was only in Japan's economic exclusion zone, not the land, so it doesn't count.
To be fair Korea should be united

Under the south.

I guess what they say about arguing with idiots and/or bad-faith actors is true, then.

Also, where do they get the "400 years of law-enforcement murder" figure from? The US hasn't even been around for that long, so unless they're counting abuses dating back to Colonial America, then I guess they either need to retake history or are another one of "those people" on Twitter.

Law enforcement (like police) as we know it hasn't been around for 400 years.

It feels like it was 400 years though; and as we all know, feelings don't care about your facts.

Only for reality to give you a hard, well-deserved kick to the face. You can reject it for a time, but it always catches up… and we’ll all own the consequences for ignoring it all these years, even if the people who first set things into motion are long dead and buried.

Wait, really?

Yeah, modern policing with 'Officers of the Law' is really recent. Like Industrial Revolution, maybe a bit earlier.

I mean, there was policing and enforcing the law, but there was a lot of self-policing and sheriff-likes. In bigger cities and the like the Town/City Guard or whatever was more of a standing army that patrolled the streets and did some policing on the side.

Oldest 'police' department in the USA is Philadelphia's and that was founded in 1751. Oldest 'modern' police department is the Thames River Police from 1800 which eventually became a properly 'modern' policing department in 1829 as it mooshed together with the Metropolitan Police.

St. Petersburgh has a police force founded in 1718, but how much they actually resemble a proper police force and not just a glorified 'Town Guard' (which, see above) is unknown to me.

That's what my quick research tells me for solid (ish) numbers and dates. At most we're looking at 250 years of total policing, which even then is sketchy because there are a number of cities that didn't get founded until much later, and didn't have police until things started settling.

IIRC it's also why British Police is so smug about not having guns on them 24/7, it was part of their creation to distinguish then from old military security and town guards that were the more common "police" at the time.

Everything is racism. I'm not even sure how they came up with scones being racist... or hamburgers, or spiders, but everything's racist anyway.
