While the Eucalyptus absolutely didn't help, a hefty chunk of California's native life also reproduces using fire. Redwood trees, Chaparral, and Manzanita, f'rex. The state is covered in plants that reproduce by fire and lighting itself on fire is just how California's ecosystem rolls.
