Well it might've happened more suddenly then expected, but Microsoft's attempt to delve into Streaming has mostly ended, though not completely. Originally founded as Beam, Microsoft purchased the growing streaming platform, rebranding it as Mixer and even attracted famous and popular streamers such as Ninja to promote and grow their platform, but apparently it never quite caught on.

Microsoft will be ending Mixer and instead partnering with Facebook with their livestreaming service, Facebook Gaming. Their content creators will have the opportunity to join them on Facebook Gaming, but Amazon's Twitch has also been more then willing to accept those wayward Mixer creators back under their fold.

Of course it wasn't a total loss for Microsoft, though a loss it still is IMHO. Mixer technology and applications are now Microsoft technology and Microsoft apparently will still be invested in streaming a the xBox Series X and its related streaming service (ugh another one) will be focused on now.

I actually never bothered with Mixer personally, though for a while I was interested in it. But since I watch most of my streaming on the Smart TV, often as background, I never got interested enough in Mixer to download a modded application to my Rokubox to watch it. Too late now I suppose. That accessibility is killer. Still, unlike with television/movie streaming services, I actually prefer more (free) game streaming competition since it's basically an Amazon and Google/Youtube domain and I loathe both of those companies even more then Microsoft oftentimes. :p

One thing is for sure, a Facebook Gaming livestreaming service seems even less appealing to me.
