I don't think the connection is what you think it is, as people like myself have a hedonistic aspect to them but are not "woke." For me it is simply a part of my wanting more freedom, and wanting people to have more choice, and really just for a secular nation to not be beholden to religion. I'd guess the more hedonistic aspects of the regressive left have more to do with that rejection of religion more than anything else. And since they are more antitheist than atheist, this is why they feel the need to be so "in your face" about it with their pride parades and the like vs. people like me who are more about "in your own home."

Looking at it through lens of history, the concept of equity is the result of a stupid child misunderstanding the lessons of an elder.

The principle of equality created during the enlightenment was a refutation of the privileges of the nobility. Enlightenment equality asserted that all social, economic and legal classes should be held to the same standards.

However, that is not what was tuaght to the idiot children. They merely recieved the short hand "All are equal" and believed that it was a first order principle. This game of telephone eventually changed into the principle that all people should be forced to be equal.
