The 11-carrier US Navy is mocking Iran as 'experts' at making a dummy aircraft carrier to shoot at

The US Navy posted a photo on social media ridiculing Iran after it fired missiles on a mock-up of a US flattop on Wednesday.

"We cannot speak to what Iran hopes to gain by building this mock-up, or what tactical value they would hope to gain by using such a mock-up in a training or exercise scenario," Cmdr. Rebecca Rebarich, a spokesperson in the US Navy's Fifth Fleet, which oversees operations in the Middle East, told The Associated Press.

"We remain confident in our naval forces' ability to defend themselves against any maritime threat," she added.

The drill appeared to be an attempted show of force against US ships, which Iran has previously built replicas of and fired missiles at.

how adorable that they made a fake aircraft carrier and then LARP'd an attack on it. apperantly they forgot that the real one will shoots back and not made of plywood. this is just like kids playing 'war' in the kiddie pool. Next week they will try to stop a rubber raft.

At times like this, I wonder how much of this is political theater for their home audience, because the regime there is not as stable as they'd like to be.

If they think this is a serious military exercise, it's the sort that will get more of them killed, not less, because it's so far from the truth.

They're not wrong. Expecting a real carrier to be downed like a replica is hoping for the crew to be stafffed by FNGs who'd panick and jump off the ship by themselves or on a lifeboat.

Basically they built a wooden version of US Navy Aircraft Carrier for target Practice. So they can built Mock up of a carrier but not building a light carrier for actual use. This stupidity is astounding.

they could have built a more accurate virtual version for a 10th of the cost and they could reuse it for training purposes instead of it being a one off.

I know this is Iran but don’t a lot of countries like China and North Korea do stupid crap like this? Like I think every couple of years you here about one of those countries wasting there military budget are dumb useless crap and/or attack civilians vessels and say they where spies or military forces.

Like if they actually wanted to do something against America if we decided to rofl stomp them maybe spend more on actual training and get your engineering people to update like everything lol
