Taiwan Straights Tension

People, chill. Why do you have to make this about each other?

Vietnam is probably trying to do what is best for themselves, which would include not provoking their large and powerful neighbor. Insisting that the Vietnamese government "choose a side" is silly. They already have a side they are supposed to be on: their own.

As for Taiwan and independence - if just declaring independence were all that was needed, there would be a lot more small countries in the world than there are. We should assume that the DPP are not so naive.

Indeed.
And,Taiwan is independent now - and would be as long as USA are superpower willing to support them.
Considering how Biden is destroing USA - not long.

But,before that happen,we would see China taking their property/Siberia/ from Moscov.
I wish to see what @History Learner would say then !

And,China could fall thanks to economy, too.
They fucked so many things in their society after all....

IMHO a proper cleanup of the American political system would probably need to include large segments of the Democrat party leadership and following being executed for treason.

Siberia as such was never part of any Chinese empire. And as for trying to take it by conquest, I'd assume the CCP like Beijing the way it is, not a huge smoking radioactive crater.

A country can have a totally messed up economy and the regime will still be in power, as long as they can keep the loyalty of enough of the people with guns and uniforms. China is not the United States.

1.That,ot USA would cease to exist. The same goes for Poland and Europe - unfortunatelly,we do not have elites capable of doing that, when USA still have chance.

2.During Tang dynasty, people there akcnowledged China power. For China this is enough, and,if they wait for Moscov to fall more, they could take it without nukes flying.
Of course,Putin still could have hidden super army waiting for such occasion. You never knew with KGB.

3.Regime in power - yes.But not as world superpower capable of ruling other countries, but bigger North Korea.

The German Minister of Education & Research is set to visit Taiwan Tuesday in the first visit of a German official of this level in twenty six years. The Minister, who is a member of the Free Democratic party (FDP), two day trip primary purpose is said to be focused on Semiconductor research in which Germany and Taiwan have many collaborative projects ongoing.

Up until 1997, Germany sent Ministers to China and Taiwan alternatively.

The FDP Party is considered a Center or Center-Right Party in Europe pursuing ideas of economic liberalism in regards to supporting free trade and privatization and received about 11% of the vote in the 2021 Elections.

Official statement from the Taiwanese Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Yeah Honduras decided to recognize the Peoples Republic of China instead of the Republic of Taiwan after Honduras' Foreign Minister visited China last week. Honduras apparently asked Taiwan for over two and a half billion in foreign aid and on top of that construction of a new hospital, a new dam and forgiveness on their previous debt of about $2 billion. Ends an 82 year long diplomatic relationship.

Leaves only thirteen countries left that recognize Taiwan.

Doesn't matter, even if it's only one country as long as that country is the USA.

Well over a hundred countries recognize Taiwan 'informally' and the United States is among them and obviously, far more important for Taiwan practically speaking.

For most countries this entire issue is basically competing sugar daddies as stated earlier, and the Peoples Republic of West Taiwan has far more sugar to offer.

My theory is all of this would've been avoided if Chiang had crushed the communists in 1948 and killed Mao.

He could do that in 1946.USA stopped him and asked for peace talks.Rest is History.
It seems, that American Democrats just must fuck everything they could.
While the Republicans aren't saints, the Democrats do seem to be the ones who fuck up and then try to whitewash their own image in the eyes of the public.

Then again, when the US intervenes in any foreign matter, there's a 60% chance it's going to be a crapshoot result for everyone involved (the US included).

"Don't stick your dick in the plug socket."

USA: "Imma do it!"

Not to mock the USA for it but…America is profoundly bad at the game of empire, isn’t it? Indirectly it can play it half decently, but directly? Good grief.

They've really only had a few successes -- overt as in military invasions, covert as in Glowie Ops, it doesn't matter -- compared to their failures.

I mean, there's Germany, Japan, South Korea, et cetera, but there's also the Armpit of the World (Iraq, Afghanistan, et cetera), Vietnam...

C'mon America, We showed you how to bloody do it for centuries -- Hell, you even came from the Empire!

Git gud, scrubs. :p

They didn’t just come from the Empire, they’re the most disappointing child out of an entire nursery of disappointment.

Do we have to do “Pax Britannica” again, boys? Because so far we are not amused with Burgerland and its adventures.
