Sweden purges school history curriculum.

Recent days, the Swedish debate has focused on the social democratic next move to make the Swedish people less historically aware. Due to lack of lesson time, the Board of Education now suggests that the History subject must be radically changed.
Gender issues, climate and migration are of course included elements in the new suggested revised course plans of social sciences, which includes history.
At the upper grades 7-9, where pupils are 13-15 years old, there will no longer be any history taught dated older than the year 1700. All studying of the democratic cradle in ancient Greece, Rome, or The Swedish Great Power era (1611-1718) when Sweden ruled the countries surrounding the Baltic Sea, will be erased from history class.

Yup. But there is a difference between Europe now and Rome. At least Rome and Byzantium actually fought and tried to survive however futile it was. Europe will do nothing but celebrate their demise. Its honestly pathetic.

@Terthna a guild navigator is still human, and the balance of powers between the Emperor, Landsraad, Bene Gesserit and Guild is infinitely better than a ruthless optimizing rationalist regime of computers, in which the human spirit is ground under the gears of efficiency. I believe few things justify a war quite so much as automation; certainly we might soon have need to pray Herbert a prophet and Jehanna Butler waiting in the wings.

Bullhonkey; I'd argue it's far, far worse. At least with automation, the human spirit isn't ground under the heels of competing totalitarian dictators, who are as ambitious as they are capricious; not to mention all the corpses such a system demands on a regular basis. If we did have an evil monster like Jehanna Butler in the wings (and I say this with every ounce of conviction I have in my soul), I'd be one of those who would stand ready to fight them to my last breath; because their vision of the future is nothing less than a boot stomping on a human face, forever.

Considering everything I've learned about Sweden over the past few years? I'm not surprised; the real problem is going to be figuring out how to stand in the way of the regressive leftists in other countries, who will want to imitate this insanity. Sweden itself, however? Yeah, they're doomed.

Self-aware AI is never going to be a thing. Computers do what they're programmed to do, no more, no less. Sure, you can teach a program to learn, but only within the constraints defined. If a particular computer system will ever be a threat to the human race, it'll be because of what it's programmed to do, not because of what it decided to do for itself.

The idea of AI is interesting for sci-fi storytelling, but has no real root in reality.

Off the top of my head, Sweden is currently number 8 in education, which touches on math, reading skills, writing/language skills with science and english as optional tests (15 year olds are tested)

Removing history pre-1700 is removing an aspect of reading skills. You would be surprised at how many new words you learn while reading history, and learning more in depth of the roots of language in general.

Watch, in five years they will slip from their ranking in reading and writing.
