Note: While (large parts of) the game are NSFW, this forum is, so keep that in mind going forward.

As several of you know, Subverse is an upcoming adult video game that combines turn based tactics, shoot em ups, and screwing your virtual waifu's brains out, and is also notable for making around two million dollars on its kickstarter.

As of this writing, a new dev diary is out, showing off the new model of the player ship:

Said design was produced by Alexey Pyatov, who's work some of you might have seen before, he does a lot of milsci artwork.

I have to say, I'm not totally sold on it, it's got a very generic "semi-hard sci-fi human military ship" kinda style, and for all the work and detail used to make it, you could throw it into any of a dozen universes and it wouldn't stick out, and "easily lost in the crowd" is not really a good quality for a hero ship.

They also revealed a few details on the leveling system. Each time a character levels up, you get points that unlock or improve her combat abilities, which simultaneously improve her...uh, recreational abilities. I find this hilarious, because it means various builds will likely be described using the latter terms, and being able to tell noobs to go for butt stuff first or something sounds more or less exactly like the tone this game is going for.

I guess they're trying to avoid getting sued or something, but yeah, this ship design is not very interesting. Even the obvious Normandy knockoff in their trailer is way better.

They called the trailer one "pre-canned", so I'm assuming it was something they bought from the unity store or something.

It looks like a Gator's head, pretty distinctive imho.

I haven't looked specifically, but a few channels I sub to have posted them. Arch Warhammer was practically salivating over it, I have the feeling that when it's out, I'm going to learn more about his sexual preferences than I ever cared to know.

Agreed. I'll admit, I'm a bit worried this game will end up with similar....adult content. I really hope not.

From what they've said on the kickstarter, it will not. They're already playing with fire putting an adult game on steam, putting an adult game with that kind of stuff on steam just wouldn't fly.

So, there hasn't been much discussion of this, since for the most part it's just been slow progress updates. However, there's been some....stuff going on lately.

First off, we have a release date-ish. The first of several chapters is going go be out in the first quarter of 2021.

Secondly, we have a first look at the game:

Thirdly, if you notice who the devs decides to team up for that first look, you can probably guess what sort of controversy has naturally emerged.
