Self preservation is pretty non existent in a lot of people
I did some time as a machinist apprentice for toolmaking; the rotary sander had a handmade sign that just had a mans face pressed against the rotary sander with a big X on it. I did ask about it and my boss said they had an accident a while back when someone had leant over the sander while it was running and a tie got taught.
