Reunions are a bitch was always an amusing read. It wasn't great but it was amusing.

I recall a fic that had Ra being replaced by a young snake who became enamored with early Israelite culture and took on the mantle of Yahweh galaxy was pretty different and Yu took the place of the Ori as the main villain.

It was trippy, I think the forum it was hosted on got deleted though alas.

So, I'm planning on writing up a Stargate fic and would like a beta reader onboard whose familiar with the setting; both to bounce ideas off of and to make sure that I'm getting the details correct. Is anyone interested?

Here's an idea I cam up with a couple days ago, admittedly not a very good one and one that leans into a certain song too much. Still, I'd like to know what you think of it.

In one of the alternate timelines where the Tau'ri aren't as successful as the main series, the power vacuum amognst the Goa'uld is filled by a previously minor player, Jormungandr. The Asgard continue to fade away as they did in the real series as the replicators and genetic problems wear them down, and the Goa'uld are more powerful than ever. With the walls closing in, Thor decides that his best option is to launch a decapitation strike against them and throw the System Lords into chaos to by time for the Tau'ri, and leads the remnants of his fleet against Jormungandr's ships in one last desperate battle. After a bloody battle, the Asgard are destroyed, but the Beliskner crashes into Jormungardr's flagship, destroying them both. The System Lords collapse into infighting in the aftermath, and with Apophis and Ba'al dead, Yu gone crazy and Anubis out of the picture the Tau'ri, Tok'ra and Free Jaffa begin to drive them back at last.

Tenative title: Twilight of the Thunder God.

I'm not exactly a dedicated fan, but I've watched most of SG-1 and would be happy to help.
Excellent! Just to give you a bit of an idea of what your getting into....

It's set during Season 3 of SG-1. It's going to be written as something of a one-off story, though there will be room left for a sequel, or even multiple sequels, depending on how well it is received.

As for the story itself, I'm intending to try and write it in the sort of 'style' of a two-part story. Like this was a novelization of sorts of an episode of SG-1. As for length, I'm still working on that, but I can't imagine more than a little over a half-dozen chapters at most in the ballpark of 3,000 to 5,000 words each. The story takes place on the world of Terella, which was seen in the season 2 episode 'Need'.

As for the story itself, I'd rather not spoil it here. The story is a crossover, though that should not be an issue, as I'm fairly confident in my knowledge of the crossover elements and a general notion of how well their tech will match up with the Stargate-verse. So you shouldn't have to worry about that too much. I will say that we're not talking about a massive armada, planet or an entire faction getting IOST'd over. Though they aren't to be taken lightly.

I might get back into doing Stargate... after I rewatch the series. I mean Stargate has interdimensional travel in its repituare, making crossovers easy.

Super easy! And some of its crossover fics are the best out there.

Is it considered poor form to pimp your own work? Because I've got a fic here and I think @Spartan303 and @DarthOne are each working on their own

I have been rewatching old stargate sg1 and atlantis episodes lately and something that has been really bugging is the size of the deadalous class ships. Sometimes they are slightly larger than a Hatak and other times they are significantly smaller. Seems like the size scale is totally fucked off.

Whatever looked better on the screen at the time, I guess. Great for cinematic effect, awful for everything else.

Atlantis' model was supposed to be like two hundred percent more complex than what we saw in the show -- it actually looked like a city in concept art, but the final, budget-friendly version looked more like a space station in (comparing) simplicity.

Ideas I'd like to see?

A Sith Lord on the levels of Vitiate, Sidious, Anakin-Vader, Revan, and Bane -- a fully-empowered Sith Lord -- is Isekai'd during SG-1's run.

I can imagine Jaffas' faces as they see their "god"/a System Lord get full-body Force-choked/crushed on their throne, or seeing dozens of their comrades get fried by magic lightning shot from a robed figure's fingertips.

I can also imagine said Sith Lord implementing the Stormtrooper effect/doctrine -- faceless, fully-armoured, et cetera; hell, the more advanced cybernetic helmets of Ra's jaffa (seen in the Stargate movie) than the lesser-tech "helmets" (and budget-friendly) seen in SG-1 would work well.

And what'd be worse? The native population would love their new "god" because that's what they do. Hell, Palpatine was fucking loved by most Imperial citizenry, even when his mask came off as his tenure as "Emperor"!

Second idea would be that the Ori, during their Invasion, accidentally kick something off that even they couldn't prepare for/anticipate, such as inadvertently reviving an Arm Commander and a Core Commander on some desolate rock on the galaxy's edge.

Replicators? Asurans? Yeah, no contest.

A Daedalus class ship is the size of a Sovereign class Starship from Star Trek. That's without the long bow mounted antennae.
