A lot of what I don't like about the movie comes down to the characters - how they act, the choices they make - and really just the writing in general. And, yeah, the ending not meshing at all with ANH really bothers me, too.

If you're willing to watch an incredibly nit-picky review, this guys covers all the points I really have, and then some. ;)

I hated Han's death.
Chewbacca should have been the one who died, sacrificing his life to save Han and fulfilling his life debt from all those years ago.
The thing is, Han had to die to get Ford on board with it, so no matter what that was a forgone conclusion. It was just kind of lame the way they had him go out.

I'm at the point I think where socialmediaites are starting to ruin star wars for me and it's not just one side or the other as it is both sides immaturely taking potshots at each other or trying to make some kind of social statement by decrying one side or the other, or decrying the franchise as a whole. And rather than being the mature adult and try to get everyone to calm down Lucasfilm is telling people not to buy their books and encouraging stuff like #cancelgina.

maybe it's because I'm a big fanficer who is an avid user of the multiverse trope, but canon purity has never mattered to me as much as good stories has.

here is a novel idea, how about support the stuff you like and not the stuff you don't and don't make a huge stink about it on social media? Also, why is it that nearly 4 months after the election somehow all roads still lead to trump?

The same reason you still see GamerGate being brought up by the lefties - they're the ultimate boogeyman. ;)

As for the other stuff, it's because the regressive left cannot stand anyone being different in any way. To them, diversity really is skin deep, and they are deluded enough to think they represent some kind of "silent majority," which they think will rush in and take the place of all the old fans they're actively trying to alienate.

I'm sorry, I can't stand that guys voice enough to last five minutes of that video, let alone ninety. Can you summarize?
I already kind of did. It's about plot points and character choices/actions which just really don't make sense, along with some suggestions on how the writing could have been changed to eliminate some of the problems at different points to make things make more sense. Some of it undoubtedly comes from the rewrites/reshoots that happened fairly late in the production, but some of it comes from just plain bad writing.

true but it's frustrating when those allianted fans turn around and act almost exactly like those who are alienating them. Fighting loud noise with loud noise just makes the rest of us go....

Regarding the "SW stories" films... as far as I'm concerned, it's kind of telling that I just barely think about them. With the sequels, I can actually put effort into pointing out all the missed opportunities. With these stand-alones, I don't even care enough.

The last third of Rogue One is cool. The middle third of Solo is cool. The other two-thirds of both films... yeah, not so much. Final verdict reads "meh".

I disagree. Han was the one who had the personal connection to Emo Sith Wannabe, and it's also in his character to be emotional and leap first, look second. Chewbacca has always had the role of being the mature counterbalance to Han's recklessness; it's just this time he couldn't save him.

(Also, given Han's irresponsibility and Leia's workaholism, Chewie probably ended up doing a grossly disproportionate amount of the child raising without really taking credit, so him having to be the one to shoot Kylo afterwards is pretty wrenching.)

Honestly I think the things I'll mourn about Hollywood's Death, is the loss of tech. Why did the left have to be the tech savvy people.
Because we failed to accept the new technology and use it to spread our views and ideals among the npcs.

In other news, Star Wars: Battelgrounds 2, an excellent Third Person Shooter, has a discount of 65% on Steam.

I know I'm going to get flack and called a cuckservative but you know what I don't care. I won't let star wars die, not just because I love it, not just because thier won't be another like, but because of this, if they will kill star wars, what else will they try to kill? They are going after games, anime, fantasy, we say "this isin't the hill to die on." what hill is? How do we know even if we created an entire new popculture from stratch, who is to say they won't infiltrate that and kill it too. No, we can't keep giving up and "moving on." "We have to take a stand and cut the head off.

If there is any way for anyone to even keep track of that kind of thing. Remember, they aren't making new EU stuff anymore. ;)

Plus, the reaction over The Mandelorian should have sent a message already, loud and clear, just as the box office drops in new movies should have sent a message, but they are intent on misinterpreting it, ignoring it, or just hatefully scorning their fans over it.
