The only good Rey would be a Rey with Sheev slutting it up on a surviving Luke. Hmm, come to think of it, maybe a time travel plot where SheevRey travels back in time, gets to Tatooine and picks up Luke like a Vamp before teaching him all about the dark side. Climax* would be Rey and Luke challenging Palpatine and Vader for the throne, with an epilogue implying that Rey is using Luke for a programm to create loyal bodyguards.

I would read that. Probably only as a one-shot but I would nonetheless read it. It would either make for an excellent crack story or a great meta-horror story.
I like how the only thing remotely interesting about the History of Palps that was incorporated into Soy Wars canon by Disney was palpatines lust for weird women.

Considering the state of the galaxy in 30 ABY all you need is to find a Separatist remnant battledroid army and the galaxy is yours for the taking. It may become a new age of the Hutts. The novelization provided a plausible justification for this: on top of being a poorly led garrison force caught off guard, the Imperials at Scarif were tied down to defend a fixed point (the shield gate station), which Raddus took advantage of by having his inferior but much more numerous ships dancing around and taking fire for each other. The Rebels prevented the Star Destroyers from scoring decisive hits on any major Rebel ship, at the price of taking substantial damage to every single Rebel ship and scoring no significant damage to the Star Destroyers in return until the Hammerhead corvette made that suicide ramming run.
Conversely, that's why the Rebel force crumbled when Vader's elite ISD cut off their escape -- they were pretty much completely worn out and vulnerable.
I would point out that we've literally only heard one side's version of things, including only their broad-strokes summary of what the other side supposedly said.
That one side being far more reliable than the side that literally declared the concept of merit non canon to star wars in a titanic sperg out on twitter after fans pointed out Rey didn't earn shit.
Which has absolutely nothing to do with real-life contract disputes.

Throwing insults does not change the fact that complaints about the quality of creative content in post-reboot Star Wars have absolutely nothing to do with real life contract disputes. One is a writing issue, the other is a lawyer issue.

To be fair looking back at the EU it had it's own share of jumping the shark and nerd enraging moments. Revan, Meetra surik and Mara Jade got equally crapped on to elevate pet characters and the less said about Abeloth the better. The ST will never reach the best of the EU, but thankful it was mercifully put down before it got to the worse of the EU. So long as Fioni and Feverue remain in control, the quality of Star wars is likely to remain good over all.
I think people have a massive, massive case of rose colored glasses at the EU, and on top of that certain EU storylines are massively divisive such that some people love them and are enraged at them being decanonized, while other people hated them and are rejoicing at the same thing.
For the record, I'm on the side of absolutely rejoicing at the elimination of the entire NJO, and I sincerely hope that it becomes outright memory holed with *absolutely no* elements ever brought back in any way, shape, or form.
That said, I think everyone can at least acknowledge that this is a matter of subjective opinion ultimately based on personal taste, and that everyone can at least agree that ejecting all the horribly written kiddie books from canon is a good thing.
