I saw that was coming out but I may have to rewatch the frist two seasons first.

I do have to admit it is way better then STD and while Lower Decks can be funny it is not a true Trek show going more for humor then anything else.
Maybe watch the last episode of season 2 and you'll be fine but realistically you hardly even need that.

It's basically star trek, so each episode is pretty solid as a stand alone.

Yeah, you might want to refresh on the events of the end of season two as they are relevant to the first episode of season three as it carries on from that fairly directly.

All I really remember is that the war was still ongoing as the main plotline and the rest of the epsodies where mainly stand alone ones.

Covid shooting disruption really killed or hurt a lot of shows. Taking a year or two off leaves them forgetten and cast memebers moving on.

At least some of my favorites are starting to come back.

I did just start Yellowstone. Overall I am 5 episodes in and I like it a lot. The portrayal of Rainwater is great. To many times Native Amercains are still put out as wise or just plain victims. The corruption, drity deals and cutting deals is how all the reservations worked by me growing up. The only thing missing is the bribery with payout to tribal memebers.

Also the poltics with the BLM, state goverments, local cops and power farmers makes for a nice political scene outside of D.C. or large cities. It does a good job of showing the players outside of the Northeast which Hollywood tends to ignore and just transplant D.C. into every show.

So overall a good modern western drama and I am not surpised it is a hit show as it stands out compared to the rest of Hollywood current offerings.

So saw Jurassic Domination yesterday.

Not a bad movie but definitely not the best Jurassic park movie.

Overall the acting is soild summer blockbuster level. Special effects are top notch. There is the continuous level of easter eggs to the original trilogy like the shaving cream can.

The downside comes double plot line. The movies has to main plots that only intersect in the last arc. Both plotlines felt like they could have been seperate movies.

I think that while the plotline with Grant, Malcolm and Sattler was in general a Jurassic Park plot it was disconnected from the other two of Jurassic World trilogy.

The plotline with Grady and Dearing was a nice finsh to the trilogy even if DeWanda Wise's charaters was a mess of weirdness.

But overall a soild movie even if it is not to the level of Jurassic Park or Jurassic World.

Yeah despite the main background and world building they tried to do with dinosaurs in the world at large, it didn't have that same epic scale as Jurassic Park or Jurassic World which were the best films of the franchise IMHO.

It was basically just a long worldwide adventure movie that was propelled by really good characters and the beloved and memorable actors who played them. The new cast members were well done as well including the Daughter, the CEO and his protege and even the Pilot grew on me after failing any sort of first impression for me and having shallow motivation for what she was doing.

And having a dinosaur adventure movie instead of the spectacle that we had in Jurassic Park and Jurassic World (with the localized adventure happening in the latter half) is perfectly fine. Every other movie in the franchise was an adventure movie and this was easily the best adventure movie of the bunch.

It was still kinda... populated and bloated with lots of "stuff" though. The pacing seemed fine though and I was never confused or anything. It was just muddled like a lot of modern blockbusters are. Especially when all of the characters meet each other and introduce and recognize or know of each other. It happened a lot, kinda reminded me of the Illuminati scene in the latest Dr. Strange movie. It was kinda cringe/hokey/fanservice but it was well acted never the less and fun to watch.

Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious.

It's such a great fucking piss-take on the whole isekai genre. The goddess is such a hoot/perv, too!
That last episode was a tear-jerker. I won't spoil it, but let's just say it makes you bad for laughing at all the comical shit.

Anyway, watching Tanya the Evil and its Movie on Crunchyroll. I fucking love it.

Did earlier; fucking hilarious!

Not-France: "They know the weaknesses of our grand strategy/alliance! They're mocking us with the name!"
Tanya and her Mage Corps: "Sauce! Herbs! Canned chicken! Kek!"

I can't wait for the next season; I think they said it was being released in July?

Kyoukai Senki/AMAIM

The current Sunrise mecha show of the season. It's going for that fairy tale feel that Gundam SEED went for during the latter half of that show. The heroes are "terrorists", which translates into not committing any actual acts of terrorism, but instead doing Boy Scout service projects like painting houses and stuff. And occasionally blowing up mechs but fortunately they're all unmanned so our heroes never have to feel bad. Most bloodless war for freedom ever. It sounds ridiculous, but the ridiculous feel good nature of the show is what makes it stand out among the sea of real robot anime.

It also nice that the show is completely 2D animated. I haven't seen any 3D CGI whatsoever, not even for cars or background extras, which is a huge plus in my book given. Some of the fight scenes are pretty decent (for a modern anime fight scene), such as the battle against Ghost at the end of season 1. It feels bizzare to me that this brand new IP gets the 2D animation treatment, but Hathaway's Flash, the long awaited adaptation of an infamous Gundam novel written by Tomino, got the cheap 3D CGI stuff.

Ascendance of a Bookworm S3

We're finally out of the intro arc. Seasons 1 through 3 altogether should've been compressed into a single season, but at least it's over. Wonder how many years we will have to wait until S4. When this show is finished, it will need a fan-edit like Naruto Kai that cuts out the filler and boils down the show to the essentials. I would dread to recommend to people that they slog through the unedited show with the sheer amount of padding it has.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes remake

The remake is overall inferior to the original OVA series. The OVA series had straight up better aesthetics, and had better directing that gave it that huge operatic feel. It also made use of the narrator to give exposition to the audience as quickly as possible, whereas this remake bizarrely tries to use a lot of "as you know" dialogue, which is unnatural and takes way longer than it should. The remake is also much more slowly paced. That being said, the remake is interesting at times. It is better at presenting the fleet movements during a battle than the OVA series. I would also take the OVA's classical music over the remake's forgettable soundtrack any day.

The one positive thing I will say is that Muller and Kempff got more focus and are more sympathetic in the remake than I remember from the original OVA series.

At least it make sense because you know after the news of Dinosaurs broke after Jurassic Park 2 everyone involed is going to be a household name for a decade.

I do agree that the polit was not a bad character. It just seems like she was tacked on to me. It also felt that the director wanted her to be more but did not have the screen time to expand on her.

As for plotlines. Bloated is definitely the right word for it and you are also correct that a lot of blockbusters have taken similar paths. A lot of times hollywood thi ks lots of subplots make up for a weaker main plotline.

I do kind of hope something more comes out of the franchise. Maybe a mini series or some with a longer story line since movies are likely done for a while.

The last two movies I watched: Apollo 13 and Das Boot.

The crew of Apollo 13 had to restart Odyssey with no room for error after an emergency shutdown without blowing a fuse while using less power than what my car needs just to open and close the windows.

That's a 40 amp circuit. They couldn't go past 20 amps ... which is barely enough to make your car's centre console plug-in cigaratte lighter red-hot enough to actually light a cigarette.

I'll leave Das Boot to @LordSunhawk because he is the boot.

Don't forget to watch the Movie after Season 2.

Honestly While the first 2ish episodes of Konosuba are a little slow to get through everything after is gold.
I'm on season one, episode three at the moment; where he learns Steal and ends up constantly nicking people's underwear. And the cabbages. And the machoistic crusader, Darkness.

I'm having to stifle my laughs because I'll wake people up!

So a new anime season has dropped. I am happy to see a show return that I though was done.

Classroom of the Elite

It is now in its second season. Overall it is a take of high school that runs on Machiavellian philosophy. The school runs on points where everything is for sale from food to test answers.

The students are sorted in to classes that are ranked. The higher ranked and better the class does the more points you get. The school also in anime fanshion issues larger tests for classes to move up in rankings.

There are no punishment outside of not being awarded points. So talking in class doesn't get you detention instead the class gets docked points.

The story follows the lowest ranked class and students in it. Overall they are bunch of psychopaths or dysfunctional kids which are being thrown into muiliple mind games.

Overall a decent show and a nice change of pace from transported into random world and get all the girls that are so popular right now.
