lol if Brazil will buy the Canary Islands from Spain, then it would actually qualify for NATO membership, no? And Silbo Gomero would be a nice addition to Brazil, if they could actually make a Portuguese version of it:

a) Why the hell would Spain agree?
b) Brazil would still be too southern for its territory to count.
c) Why would Brazil need to be in NATO anyway? It's not like it has any neighbors that are a military threat and it cannot deal with alone.

C. It wouldn't. It can survive just fine without being in NATO, as you said.

France and Brazil do share a land border. See: French Guiana (an integral part of France and the EU)

I highly doubt Brazil would be able to militarily deal with France without help. That drags in all of NATO ... on the French side if Brazil is the aggressor.

Even less of a reason for them to want to be in NATO and to be allowed in NATO, as France would naturally have more political pull in the alliance.

And you can't Article 5 against a NATO member
