Democracies don't go to war on each other? What Bullshit is this? War of 1812 Two great democracies wared on each other. If I'm not mistaken Germany and the others were Democracies in World War 1. Hell wasn't their democracies in Ancient Greece that liked fighting each other WTF man?
in 1812 Britain really could not be considered a democracy given the extreme control the nobility had over the House of Commons.
In WW1 germany had a parliament, but it was weak when compared to the bureaucrats so while that maybe the model of democracy our so called intelligentsia would prefer I wouldnt really count it.
and for the Greeks definitely they fought all the time democracy or no, and the Roman Empire started under the Republic.

The idea that democracies don’t fight is incredibly dumb, hell they fight themselves all the time, sometimes literally points at US civil war. Why wouldn’t they physically fight an outsider.

Because man is rational(no he's not, at the very least not all the time), therefore he chooses good over evil(Er... no. BTW, that proposition is a simplification of what Kant said, IIRC), and so he would forego conflict, preferring cooperation instead(yeah, right).

I'm extremely ignorant of Kantian philosophy, but somehow, the more I learn about it, the more I think Doc Brown should have decided to go late 18-th century Königsberg and run Kant over with his DeLorean.

You laugh, but that is the excuse they use. OF COURSE, the USA and the UK weren't democracies, and OF COURSE this applies to one or both sides of whichever counterpoint you may come up with.
To be fair the US isn't actually a democracy. It's a federal constitutional republic with democratic institutions. In fact the founders hated democracy for the most part.

Ha, reminds me of these vids, Far Lefties REALLY don’t like the Electoral College

Well guess what, even without it, I’m betting Trump would win simply because so many people are starting to fear and hate those they’ve only recently come to understand as NOT being the adorable and admirable “underdogs” they were told they were

It makes me legitimately wonder if the foreign policy establishment in Washington actually knows anything and isn’t just there to make money and write articles for Foreign Policy magazine.

At a certain point, if the establishment is this inept, the stated function it is inept at is a cover for its real objectives.
Here's another indirect answer to your question. This is Kerry 4 years ago, on video, saying that there's no way there can be peace in the middle east without the Palestinians.

Perhaps they genuinely believe these things, as articles of faith.
I think that they're simply in love with academic models and "model UN" games that simply don't pass the test of reality. Then they try making up excuses why their models don't work, swearing it was yet another one time fluke, instead of creating a better model from scratch. I have no evidence of that, of course, just a hunch based on observation.

Edit: It's not just a model, it's an entire worldview. They arw just incapable of thinking outside their liberal box. Remember how SB always screeched about "soft power" whenever the US dared to do something even vaguely threatening?

Honestly my views of the meaning of power change all the time. If someone manages to do it than it's obvious why. Right kind of person and the talent of people they can rely on to do the job.

God, I keep being reminded of this video where a guy from the past who spent time with lefties who said that the West should act better and not fight back when attacked cause they are better and that minorities aka non-whites doing violence is just them being themselves or that they can't help it.
LOL, that's literally manifest destiny. The left is racist as hell this days, the evidence keeps piling up.

No manifest destiny is the idea the US is destined to spread liberty throughout America, and potentially both Americas, this dumb idea is more the white mans burdem.
Manifest destiny is Imperialism. The attitude I talked about is not Imperialism. Its racist alright but not Imperialism.
I think I had manifest destiny confused with white man's burden.
