Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

I am seeing reports 27 Bears were destroyed, along with some number of Tu-22Ms, so Russia just lost a massive part of it's strategic bomber forces in one day.

This seriously hampers both Russia's conventional strike, and nuclear attack, capacity.

Private satellite imagery released of the base at Belaya shows clearcut visuals of three confirmed + one probable Tu-95 kill and two probable + two possible Tu-22M kill, alongside several piles of unidentifiable debris in other aircraft revetments.

Russia really can't have it both ways -- they can't say that strategic assets are "off limits because that's nuclear escalation" while also USING those same aircraft to launch conventional strikes.

Alleged compilation so far of of documented Russian Aircraft losses from Operation Spiderweb.

Article:
8x Destroyed Tu-95
1x Likely Destroyed Tu-95
1x Damaged Tu-95
4x Destroyed Tu-22 M3
1x Destroyed An-22

Russian Telegram says
18 TU-95 and TU-22 damaged or destroyed
2 A-50 damaged

Russian Telegram also says
8x TU-95 Damaged or Destroyed
4x TU-22 Damaged

Not surprised; Russia doesn't want peace on any terms other than what it can spin domestically as total victory.

The loss of 1-2 A-50 Mainstays is actually a bigger blow to Russia than losing bombers, as they had only built eight of the modernized A-50U (the original A-50 is old to uselessness), reports have consistently been that only about half of those were operational due to maintenance and parts limitations, and there are already well-confirmed kills on two of them when they were deployed to Crimea in 2024. So if they have lost 1-2 of them now, that is very probably ALL of the remaining operational ones.

Kerch Bridge Exploded Again. Almost an annual tradition by now it feels...

There are unconfirmed rumors a long range underwater drone was used to deploy the explosives.

Also reports of there being multiple and possibly still ongoing attacks.

Whilst they’ve already been able to do surprisingly well in this regard, I get the feeling the Ukrainians are on the verge of consistently fucking with Russia’s supply lines and logistics. Which, given how ramshackle those things are, could be disastrous for Moscow.

This is not new for Ukraine, it's just reached a stage of sophistication and developed strategy that it has become more effective. Ukraine has been raining explosives on Russian infrastructure for a solid year now.

Chris Cappy (on his new independent channel) seems to of had the best YouTuber breakdown of the Ukrainian Strike on Russians Strategic Aircraft.

Big takeaway really confirming that it seems like two A-50's were in fact struck and possibly destroyed and Ukraine providing video evidence at this point of twenty four of the forty one aircraft they claimed to have destroyed or damaged.

Most amusingly, or perhaps not, the attempted attack on a Russian Airbase in the Amur Region in the Ear East bordering Russia failed to transpire because the Russian truck unwittingly drive the drones there caught fire before the FPV drones could be deployed.

Preston Stewart also reviewed the drone footage Ukraine released.

CW Lemoine, being a military pilot himself, made some interesting comments regarding how the FPV Drones targeted particular parts of the airplanes, such as the fuel tanks in the base of the wings etc. He also made a reference to this being a Pearl Harbor style event with the level of surprise and shock.

And the Oryx List Updated... with likely the most expensive loss list in a loooooong time.

Another list of alleged losses in these strikes.

Ukrainian SBU released more footage of the infamous Drone TERRORIST Attacks on Russian Strategic Aviation Revealing Or Perhaps Confirming More Russian Aviation Losses. Along with documenting FPV strikes with video evidence, there is still discussion on how many of these aircraft were operational at the time.

Russia's Retaliatory Response For this "Terrorist" Attack Apparently Differed Little from Previous Russian Drone and Missile Barrages that Targeted Ukraine Prior.

A Russian Su-35 was shot down over the Russian territory of Kursk, Reportedly by a Ukrainian F-16. The Pilot Is Reported to Have Ejected and Was Rescued.

Another FPV Drone Attack might've taken place. This time a Russian train traversing across Southern Ukraine containing both military vehicles and grain cars might've been placed under attack as Ukrainian FPV drones reportedly emerged from at least one of the grain cars and began striking Russian military vehicles being transported on said train. Reportedly thirteen tanks and around a hundred other Russian military vehicles were struck in this latest attack.

A Russian Su-25 was reportedly downed (accidentally) by its wingman during an unguided rocket run against Ukrainian forces.

Counting of tank disparities at Russian Depots and Parks seem to reinforce losses documented and compiled by OSINT accounts that Russia may have lost around a lower estimated four thousand main battle tanks.

Along with the increased construction of aircraft shelters at various military bases, Russia in response to the Ukrainian drone attacks has moved significant parts of its operational strategic aviation to the Russian Far East, almost a days long flight away from Ukraine.

Kamchatka? That is not only close to China but close to the US.

Closer to the U.S. than other parts of Russia, but not really all that close. It's on the Pacific coast of Russia, but far south of the Bering Strait which is the closest approach between Russia and Alaska. It's much closer to Japan.

While the fighting continues and personnel losses are still dramatic, Russian heavy military equipment losses have shrunk significantly this year thanks to 'changing' tactics of using lighter and often civilian vehicles to support assaults on Ukrainian forces instead of mechanized military forces.

In a recent Russian Missile Strike that Targeted a Residential Complex in Kyiv, killing an estimated twenty eight civilians, one of the dead is apparently an American from the Pacific Northwest. Fred Grandy apparently went to Ukraine as a volunteer to help clean up debris and rubble in the city after Russian attacks.

Japan's NHK News citing Russian and Western diplomatic sources, states North Korea is considering sending 25,000 workers to Russia's Alabuga Special Economic Zone in Tatarstan Russia where drones (including Shahed/Geran style ones) to be used by the Russian military are manufactured. This is the same zone where teenaged international students were also sent to either work as domestic staff or building drones in lieu of promised educational opportunities.
