Ukrainian Kamikaze Drones, FPV Racing Drones Paired with 85mm RPG Munitions.

These are showing up again. Use of American Switchblade-300 Loitering Munitions Upon Russian Forces in the Bakhmut Area. The Switchblade-300 has a warhead roughly equivalent to a 40mm Grenade. Many Ukrainian forces apparently prefer drone-dropped grenades to the Switchblades as the latter is apparently more complicated to use.

Facebook post from the Ukrainian Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov talking about Ukrainian Military Manufacturing of Uniforms, Drones, Body Armor and even potentially 155mm Ammunition in spite of the whole country being a warzone.

Might actually be "just" 30 PT-91 Twardy's as well as 30 T-72M's for the sixty tanks (plus the 14 Leopard 2A4's).

I have to laugh. The actual headline, shown in that first tweet, in reality reads: "Our country is sending 230 military vehicles to Ukraine that are considered unsuitable and too dangerous to be used by Belgian soldiers".

(To be fair, it's just as plausible that the vehicles are fine, and the Belgian soldiers are the problem...)

From cursory research it seems like the APCs are overweight with armor and addons, which leads to common cracking of roof plating, high suspension wear and expensive maintenance needs. This is terribly uneconomic for Belgian service (training, peacetime duty, peacekeeping missions with lots of driving around patrolling). For Ukraine, it's not such a big problem, there combat damage is likely to require new parts before they get worn down anyway.

As for the trucks, they are not protected enough for Belgium's COIN missions in Sahel. For Ukraine, it's still a perfectly functional truck in no way worse than all the other unarmored military trucks in logistical duties.

The headline is funny, because it seems to either imply something about the trucks, or about the Belgian soldiers.

Don't talk about incremental changes in the fighting (or commentary on the tactics or strategies too often) but I typically check Def Mon's Twitter every few days to see what might be going on. Here's his update today. Seems vaguely similar to reports over the past few weeks. Mostly Russian offensives in Kreminna (in Luhansk, the Nothern Part of the frontlines), in Bakhmut (south of Kreminna and north of the City of Donetsk where fighting has been going on for half a year now) and in Vuhledar (Southwest of the City of Donetsk). Sometimes incremental gains are made by the RuAF, sometimes there are successful counterattacks by the AFU. 🤷‍♀️

First Documented Loss of a Russian Tor M2DT Air Defense System. What makes this variant special is that the tracked vehicle is specially designed to operate in the arctic environment away from roads due to wider tracks and lower ground pressure. It can drive over snow and marshes, and supposedly can avoid triggering some anti-tank systems as well as being fully amphibious. Not especially resistant to getting struck by guided artillery shells (reportedly Excalibur) however.

82mm Mortar Bombs Reportedly Recently Made by Ukrainian Manufacturers Ready For Service

British supplied Stormer HVM Air Defense Vehicle Located Near Vuhledar (North of Pavlivka and Southwest of the City of Donetsk) where there has been more heavy fighting.

The armored vehicle he was in apparently rolled over when they came under artillery fire.

The Belgian Defence Company OIP Land Systems Possesses a Large Amount of Cold War era Armored Fighting Vehicles Including Leopard 1's, German Gepard-B SPAAG's, Austrian SK-105 Light Tanks, and M113's APC's among the 500 vehicles in their possession.

The Guardian said:
In 1989 he joined OIP, a firm that specialised in optical equipment, where he eventually set up OIP Land Systems, a subsidiary company that bought up old military equipment, banking that one day there would be a demand for it again.

...

At the hangar, Versluys dismissed accusations made by some in Belgium that he was trying to profit from the war. "Everyone thinks we are making lots of money, but look around you, so far the hangar is full," he said. "We took in these tanks when no one wanted them. Now, I would very much like to see them in Ukraine."
