ROB lets you have a personal spacecraft of your choice.

You are going about your day when a ROB suddenly pops out of nowhere and tells you to choose a personal spacecraft of your choice with a few exceptions.

You can not travel in time with it(No TARDIS) it must be space-worthy, and it can not be any sort of Culture vehicle.

Also, it must be something that can ideally be crewed by one person, which is you, as it does not come with a crew.

You have 10 minutes to decide.

Choose wisely!

ST Danube-class runabout. Let's see here ... warp drive, transporter, replicator, shields, phasers, and photon torpedoes. Minimum crew: one, pilots licence not required.

Time travel: eh, probably can't do the slingshot around a star the TOS crew pulled in ST:IV.

Your Overlord and Jester
Ryo-Ohki, from Tenchi Muyo. Intragalactic (possibly extragalactic) FTL, extremely fast and maneuvrable sublight, weapons and shields capable of taking on small fleets of potentially planet-killing ships and win, fully sapient, capable of changing forms between spaceship, cute cabbit, and cute little girl (and semi-hot adult woman, in some incarnations). Crew: 0-1, as Ryo-Ohki is fully capable of flying herself if needed. Fuel source? Primarily carrots.

No time travel.

Hmm, couple of thoughts:

If the ship relies on physics or properties that don't exist, do they still work? F'rex my first thought was one of the Wing Commander cargo ships, a Galaxy or perhaps a Clydesdale. The Galaxy in particular can run off one person, is a space superiority fighter bristling with turrets, and can carry a few passengers or a decently large cargo bay of 225 cubic meters, and the FTL is point-to-point teleportation so very fast.

However, Wing Commander FTL is reliant on spatial anomalies that simply don't exist in real life, such as a Black Hole in our solar system.

Also, do we actually get any skills to pilot? Otherwise picking a non-culture ship that's capable of flying itself is the only viable option, few of us are going to be able to train up to become astronauts, especially on a ship that nobody in the world has ever flown and that works according to principles none of us understand.

Nope, but you will get any and all physical augmentations that might be required to pilot the ship.

So, I'd pick something with a halfway decent A.I. and self-repair capabilities.

Think Alpha-synths from Path of the Fury, which is super tempting, and the Andromeda Ascendant from Andromeda.

Maybe the cool ship from Revelation Space might also fit the bill.

Whatever you choose, if it has an A.I. that A.I. will see you as captain and be 100% cooperative.

And yeah, the physics it replies on will still work, but I'd you need a warp point or something to enable you to go FTL the Earth's star system might lack it.

Hmm, in that case, Wing Commander's out given there's no predicting where actual Jump Points are.

Since it's on my mind from the thread, probably go with Andromeda Ascendant. Armed to the teeth, sociable, can fly herself in any situation without FTL (and can do that as long as she has an organic to bully into using their intuition for her), maneuverable as most fighters, and basically omni-capable. Any skills I don't have she can probably teach me.

Yup, she was my first choice as well.
Or one of her sisters, or that ship the New Systems Commonwealth built.

True, the Andromeda does definitely have a self-sufficiency that the O'neill might be lacking.
Yeah, she is also prime waifu material.
I wonder if she'd be willing to help her captain with some forms of stress relief. ;)
Or maybe the Pax Magellanic will be a better choice, given that she is even more committed to her captain, in a yandare way, even.

Hmm. A three way tossup between the Ryo-Ohki, the Warworld from DC, or the Glorious Heritage class. I do fancy something ST:O's Romulan Shamshir Dreadnought. I like the aesthetic of Romulan ships a lot.
Are ST:O ships crewable by one man, though?

That depends on how you mean 'crewable'. Technically the Warworld isn't, it's crewed by millions of drones directed by one man. The Shamshir probably has the same bridge layout as the Scimitar; so you'd have a single helmsman, a single tactical officer etc. Getting from place to place would in theory would only need one person.

This reminds me, Dahak and a few of the later, improved planetoids should theoretically be one man capable.

Ryo Ohki. Say can you make more of them? Maybe Jurai treeships might be another good idea since you could grow more?

My favorite single-seater spaceship. However, I am not an engineer, nor do I think Earth companies would be able to build replacement parts, nor would I be able to afford them if I could.

I think I would go with a Starfleet shuttle as @bintananth did. Built for dummies. It has an advanced AI that can self diagnose any problems, a replicator that can build replacement parts and tools, and the AI can explain what I need to do to fix the ship. I don't need to be a trained pilot to fly it. The shuttle will pretty much never run out of power. Also comes with sensors, shields, phasers, a transporter, and highly advanced medicine. The shuttle is also big enough that I can carry some cargo and other people. I will also never run out of food.
