Hello All.

So I am creating this thread with some basic information guides and links to resources that you can use in order to better prepare yourself and stay safe in times of emergencies. One of the things that I think is contributing to the panic is that people just simply don't know what to do or how to prepare for the worst. On any given day we are only a matter of weeks from things going catastrophically wrong and world supply chains either being seriously disrupted or ended. War, political tensions, disease or all the above could contribute to that. So what I am posting here is a resource guide for all to use in order to prepare. However, I understand that there is a possibility that not all these resources may be available internationally. So I am asking those members in foreign countries outside of the United State and or Canada to post links as well. The idea for this thread is to link to necessary resources only. Food, water and any other essentials. That is it. Do not post in this thread if you have nothing to contribute. Post links to resources that you know will help.

So I'll start off.

My Patriot Supply. They start off with a 2 week and 4 week food storage containers. Their stuff can last up to 25 years in storage. I've already got mine on order and suggest you do the same. If you are listeners to Doctor Steve Turley or Dan Bongino there are promo codes to help get 40% off. I highly recommend them. However, given recent events they are seriously backlogged 4 weeks as of my last communique with them. They are constantly updating me on the progress of my order. They've since opened another warehouse and distribution center to meet demand.

My Patriot Supply:


They have 25 year shelf life, free shipping on orders 99 dollars or more, glutton free and special diet options, and a 30 day no question return policy if you aren't satisfied. Their current rating is a (Buyers Guide 9.9) which gives them the highest rating of all these brands out there.


Just under My Patriot Supply with a rating of (Buyers Guide 9.7) is a group called Legacy Food Storage. You have the same options in terms of selections as listed for My patriot supply in terms of gluton free or special diet options. I've heard nothing but good things from these guys as well and they come highly recommended.

Next we have a group called 'Survival Frog' rated at (Buyers Guide 9.2). In addition to the usual options mentioned you also have canned meats, straw like water filters, pocket stoves and so on.

Next we have American Family Safety. These guys are a bit different as they focus more on emergency survival kits for up to 72 hours. Home Safety Kits, Car safety Kits, Office and School safety kits. These can be customized as needed for Hurricanes, Floods, Blackouts, wildfires, Earth Quakes, terrorism and medical kits. They are rated at a buyers guide of 8.6.


I'm seriously looking into investing in something like this in addition to My Patriot Supply.

And finally we have 'Emergency Essentials' Rated by the Buyers Guide at 8.4. What makes these guys a bit more unique than American family safety is that they also Quarentine supply kits and pandemic supply kits. In addition to basic MREs, 1 week, 2 week, 1 month, 3 month, 6 month and up to 1 year food supplies. They also have a host of other things to help with preparedness.

That's about it concerning some of these major sites for emergency resources. But you can also do smaller things to aid with what you need. And here, oh boy, Does Amazon really come through.

One of those is the 'WaterBOB Bathtub Emergency Water Storage Container. Can hold up to 100 Galons of drinking water. Its portable and easy to use, and would take at most 30 minutes to fill up.



I will warn you ahead of time that while most reviews are positive, there has been noted instances of difficulty drying the thing out after it has been used. I currently have 2 of them but have yet to use them.

Probably like a lot of you, I didn't see the Corona virus coming, or maybe didn't take it serious enough in terms of the disruptive effects it could have on our day to day lives. But once I did, I took immediate action only to find out that there would be delays. In this I have no one to blame but myself. Well consider me humbled and well informed now. And probably like many of you, I didn't prepare as well as I could have. I seek to change that. I'm sure that this Corona thing will eventually blow over, but what about the next thing that hits? Some of us live in areas that have Wildfires, Hurricanes and or Earthquakes. Or maybe we find ourselves in a situation we weren't quite prepared for. The links I have posted are not a 'Be All, End All' link to supplies and or services. If you have links to anything that you feel might be helpful, please link them immediately. Or, if you have links to resources that are more regional specific to speed up delivery times (Or by Country) then link those too and I will threadmark them. Please post only if you have something to contribute.

Let's say you're in a situation like the current one. What do you do? Patriot Supply is running at a 10-week backlog, and you're afraid you're about to be unable to leave the house for a month or two. Stores are running out of supplies very rapidly. You may have to drive into a rural area to go to a Dollar General. What should you buy there?


Here is a list of twenty-five things:

1. Clorox/409 cleaner--perfectly effective.
2. Rags. Soaked in Clorox/409 and then washed regularly, they can make up for a lack of paper towels which are disposable.
3. Trash bags--buying all those paper towels if they're there, your consumption will go up quickly. Fully sealable in case the contents are contaminated.
4. Expectorant, if any: guaifenesin will probably help if you get sick.
5. Gatorade, lots of it -- this is the front line treatment for minor cases.
6. Paracetamol/acetaminophen -- ibuprofen and other NSAIDs may make your case worse and increase your risk of going to the hospital. Anti-inflammatories are actually bad with this outbreak. Control your fever with Paracetamol. 4 x 1000mg doses a day (24 hr period) are safe, regardless of what the label says, AS LONG AS YOU TAKE NOTHING ELSE CONTAINING IT.
7. Vitamin C--it helps with colds, it probably helps with other Coronavirii. Drink lots of it.
8. A bucket or two. If you really do run out of toilet paper, soaking another kind of paper in water first makes it usable for this task, so have a bucket by the loo.
9. Beans. High in protein and fats that are good for you, eat lots of beans. Buy every possible kind in large quantities and experiment with ways to cook them into meals. Don't agree with you? Soak them in water and throw out the water. Most of the bad chemicals are removed by doing that a couple of times.
10. Spices and sauces: They last forever, they make food palatable. Don't make this experience miserable. Buy lots of bottles of sauces and lots of jars of spices to add into your food.
11. Oil: You will need a lot of oil for cooking. Canola oil, corn oil, vegetable oil, olive oil, get a variety so you can alternate.
12. Flour. It's the basic staple of the world.
13. Yeast -- so you can prepare your own bread. Baking soda for similar purposes.
14. Rice. Next basic staple of the world, buy a lot of it to cook into your food.
15. Potatoes. 15 lbs would be a minimum good supply. It will go bad... But over a few weeks.
16. Onions. Keep forever and help flavour food, good quanity of vitamins. Suggest at least 5 lbs.
17. Canned tuna: Versatile fish, good source of protein. If they have different kinds of canned fish, experiment and grab more.
18. Jerky. You want meat in your food? Just buy a bunch of jerky! It will keep forever, and when you boil it into a stew or soup or bake it into a casserole, it will taste delicious. Just take all the packs on the shelf if you're a serious carnivore.
19. Pasta. Add some variety to the stockpile, you can cook it with oil and herbs even if there's nothing else, and mix it with the canned fish--this is far more authentically Italian than a lot of other things.
20. Precooked bacon -- if there is any sitting out warm in the open, grab a lot. Provides an alternative to the jerky.
21. Canned fruits and vegetables -- buy as many as you can of as wide a selection as possible. Use herbs, spices and oil to season them and make them palatable and cook them into dishes with beans, rice and boiled jerky.
22. Evaporated milk -- you want absolutely as much of it as possible to prepare foods with and make your beverages palatable. Better than condensed milk because it's usually unsweetened.
23. Butter -- lasts forever with moderate refrigeration and an adjunct to oil in any case, a few sticks will keep nicely for several weeks warm. Get it salted to last longer.
24. Coffee/Tea -- you'll be miserable if you don't.
25. Nuts: Every single kind you can find. Variety is the key.

Food fatigue: You will start dreading meals if you get too much of the same thing. So make sure to get everything on the list--and anything else nonperishable you like. Split it up into as many different varieties as possible.

Planning: Do planning first. Figure out how many calories, say, a box of pasta or a pound of rice has--use Excel or another spreadsheet program--guesstimate a 2000 calorie diet for everyone in your household for 1 - 2 months, and then budget broad categories accordingly. But don't worry about being perfect; it's rough order of magnitude, not an exact meal plan. That can come later.
