Resident Evil 3

Another trailer dropped for the upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake. The original Resident Evil 3... didn't have the best of reputations I feel, especially considering how strong the first and second (and in all honestly the fourth) Resident Evil games were. But the setting of it was clearly the most ambitious and easily had the best setting for which to explore the excellent zombie and monster survival horror localized apocalypti that the series is known for.

The first two Resident Evil remakes IMHO have been just as good as the originals if not actually better games potentially, especially with Resident Evil 2's remake. This leaves me hopeful that the Resident Evil 3 remake will far surpass it's original namesake and inspiration. While the trailer mostly focused on Jill Valentine and the cast of UBCS types and her many travails whilst being constantly hunted by Nemesis, what stood out to me was the new Hunter design.

For some reason, unlike Tyrants and Nemesis and Lickers and Zombie Dogs etc, the humble Hunters always seem to have fell through the gaps in popularity. In the Resident Evil 1 remake they did look kinda doofy, at least in the face, but honestly I loved general concept and design almost as much as the more famous Lickers. Just seeing the glimpse of the Hunter in the trailer makes me hopeful that they've improved on that model.

The game is set to release on April 3rd 2020. Is anyone else looking forward to it?

What's everyone elses opinions of the remakes especially in comparison to their contemporaries or the original games and their place in gaming history?

With Resident Evil 3 having been released, the main observation I can make so far is that Jill Valentine looks a lot more like Natalie Portman then Jill Valentine IMHO.

Any chance we’ll soon stop it with all of these “realistic” face models?

That said, I heard that people are kinda pissed that her classic outfit was a lie, they replaced her skirt with shorts or a skort

Don't get me wrong... she looks beautiful... and what she's wearing wasn't really an issue with me. And if it's an issue for you, well her blouse is still immodest enough and those jeans are a tight fit. The graphics are just fine IMHO, but I've heard criticisms over Carlos' shaggy hair. I think it looks impressive graphically... but apparently mileage may vary. But all of the models, faces included, look pretty good.

But yeah my main quibble is it doesn't look like Jill Valentine... especially those striking eyes I remember from the Resident Evil HD Remaster a few years ago.

Yeah, don’t really think of shirts and tight jeans as being that much anyway

I admit, I only played one resident evil game before and even then I couldn’t figure out basic controls somehow, more than ten years ago, but I think it’s. shame that there are plenty of old games people won’t be able to play unless they have say, a PC

Well actually it's a tank top and jeans. I never got the vibe of a realistic action girl anyhow. I mean jeans and a tank top is pretty... normal wear. It's actually less then she wore in Resident Evil or Resident Evil 5 or any other appearances for the most part... AFAIK. Plus I'm not sure if she's all that masculine. She's pretty lean and you can't really see any muscular definition on her. I think the criticism of her somehow being turned into a tomboy or androgynous female hero were kind of nothingburger worries.

She doesn't look like Jill Valentine IMHO but she does look like a cute... uncanny valley Natalie Portman type I suppose. But yeah... YMMV as you say. I dig the graphics and character visuals/models in the Resident Evil remakes so far. Very detailed and/or good looking IMHO so far.

Claire Redfield isn't in this game. She was in the RE2 remake. This one, as mentioned before, has the Jill Valentine character.

I don't really see a strong resemblance between Jill Valentine in RE3 and Emilia Clarke though. Definitely seems more like a Natalie Portman resemblance.

I was a fan of the actress, Sienna Guillory's portrayal of Jill Valentine in Resident Evil: Apocalypse because it seemed like she had actually studied the mannerisms and body language of the video game character portrayal even with the way she stood and held herself and addressed people. Even in the speech a bit. It was surprising when I saw that film on Netflix again after playing the Resident Evil 1 HD Remake and noticing it. Probably the most interesting highlight of that pretty blah film series.
