Politicians and Government Cringe Thread

Zyobot

Just a time-traveling robot stranded on Earth.
Rambling man:

Like I said before: An old, malfunctioning animatronic in a human skin-suit.

Reminds me of when I went to Chuck E. Cheese as a kid — except there, the animatronics weren't human or prone to stuttering as they questioned weirded-out witnesses. Chuck E. Cheese was actually a fun place to be, too, so there's that.

Zer/Durr pled no contest to stealing luggage last Summer. Now he/she is has been given a 180 day suspended sentence and will pay $3670.74 in restitution.

However the plot thickens, this apparently (shocking I know) might've been a habit of Brinton for a while now.

Not sure the statute of limitations on being a thieving bastard/turd but 2018 is a while ago. Hopefully she can get her fancy custom made dress back (and hopefully its machine washable or at least dry cleanable).

Further development of the story of our beloved non-binary Nuclear Waste Expert Sam Brinton. Being non-binary won't save him from spending time in a Montgomery County, Maryland Jail as he awaits trial for a Virginia case of suitcase thievery which was apparently due to the issue from the post quoted above where a designers unique dresses were found in Brinton's possession and worn by him at public events where he was photographed.

The former deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste in the Office of Nuclear Energy before being fired in December settled two previous cases of luggage thievery in Las Vegas and Minneapolis and avoided jail time before being arrested for this charge in Virginia last week.

In case you are curious as to the jails policy:

New York Post said:
nder the Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation policy, inmates are processed and housed according to their biological sex.

The policy states: "Although MCDOCR does not consider anatomical changes brought about by hormonal therapy to be changes that constitute a change of anatomical sex, the classification of an arrestee/inmate will depend on whether the arrestee/inmate has male or female genitalia, whether they present a management or security problem, and whether their health and safety can be ensured.

"Once an inmate is classified, they will be given a housing assignment based on that classification."

Seems like a pre-op/post-op distinction at least.

Morbid obeseness is healthy, because we say so!

when people are ready this will end, when the patent absurdity gets enough it will end.
While what he said was wrong some body types are worse than others.
Why exactly would anyone care or be angry at the law? When they are ready it will end? Like being fat is bad but if discriminating against them in employment or housing is an important part of your identity that’s pretty pathetic.

Yes being fat is bad and they should work out to try and get rid of it. But people also shouldn’t be dicks to fat people just because.

The problem is that often it's not "just because". Sufficient level of fat can grant perfectly reasonable causes for other people to discriminate against them indistinguishable from being dicks to them.
Say, you are running a store, warehouse or whatever, and you need to hire a shelf stocker.
Are you going to hire a guy who meets minimal military recruitment standards, or a 200 kg landwhale who can't make 20 steps without getting winded?
If you hire the former, that's textbook "employment discrimination".
It's your money that you are spending on him, yet you know which one is going to do more work, yet the same insurance/tax/minimum wage laws apply to them.
Yet you want to force other people to cover the difference in cost-effectiveness out of their own pocket...

Ok this here is a reasonable thing if the work required physical fitness then not hiring someone who is not physically fit is acceptable. Hooters does not need to hire male waiters for example. But for an office job that is not necessary.

That depends on if they're still small enough to fit in the cubical and get their legs under the desk...
Ok at that point can the person even walk? I think the point of the law is to prevent people from making value judgments about someone based on their appearance “oh this person is so overweight they obviously can’t control themselves so they shouldn’t be put in a position that requires self discipline as they are not trustworthy.”

I’m of the opinion that companies that employ a large number of people should not be allowed to have any right to discriminate not just protected classes except if the person is able to do the job or not.

Even then, there are many less obvious factors that come into the calculation, and due to variability, amount and pettiness of some of those factors it should be left up to the employer what they do and if it's worth the heck.
Say the landwhale does get employed into the office. But then it turns out that the desk and the chair, standarized for normal employees, are physically too small for the landwhale. Also the landwhale smells due to sweating profusely at the temperature preferred by other workers.
What do?
You know damn well that this is the sort of crap that will show up in the future lawsuits relating to this law, not that someone got randomly fired because they were 20kg overweight in an office job.

No giving corpos too much power is how conservatives get cancelled.
As for them breaking chairs wouldn’t that be immediately noticeable at the interview?

As for them smelling like shit, that sounds like a hygiene issue that is an acceptable reason to fire someone.

Giving leftist run government too much power is how corpos gain the desire to cancel conservatives in hope it will spare them the attention of leftist government officials.
The origin of all sorts of corpo HR bullshit is wide reaching government anti-discrimination regulations. More of the cause of the problem will never solve the problem.

Guess who would get sued for that one?
Guess who would get sued if the chair is just very uncomfortable for the landwhale and gave him sores?
As for them smelling like shit, that sounds like a hygiene issue that is an acceptable reason to fire someone.
Again, who do you think would get sued?

Yeah, I am with Kings Art on this one. Unless you are on a flight or something, unless you are so big your are immobile most people seem to treat fat as if it's more or less superficial when it comes to day-to-day interactions, I mean yes on the internet people will make earthquake jokes whenever they see Lizzo dance...but I mean if we haven't noticed already everyone seems to loose their minds and act like degenerate jerks on the internet at one point or another. (hence why Online is not a realy good engagement for reality and why chronic twitter users make horrible focus groups) As far as employment I mean a standard fitness measure would be good enough grounds to hire or fire someone no mention of weight is required.
My point is....transgenderism in female sports and drag queen story hours this is not.
