the FBI didn't become corrupt they started out that way.

J. Edgar Hoover was nearly as much of a thug as any of the men he tracked down. He was always willing to break the law and commit unconstitutional acts so long as it made him and his personal mafia (the FBI) look good/increased their power.

When an institution starts from such a low point it isn't surprising when it fails to improve.

An NYPD Lieutenant named Wilder Lucas is facing allegations that he threatened his girlfriend (whom he is the Supervisor of), of assault, trying to coerce her into threesomes, and threatened to kill her (via chucking her in front of a train) among other things assumingly.

Lieutenant Lucas is also an integrity-control office for the Department.

Lucas apparently also didn't disclose that he was married during the time of their relationship. She states he threatened her and told her to delete evidence of their relationship when it was reported to their superiors. Lucas has denied all charges.

The lawsuit and investigation is currently ongoing.

Oh, boy. Looks like this guy's in for a real legal shitshow.
This is highly relevant, especially the juror research. It explains how they managed to get to a conviction outta such he said/she said evidence, and provocation is almost impossible to prove beyond a reasonable doubt unless laid out in writing, and even to the extent Perry did it, I don't think it hits that level.

The re trial is literally in the bag
See, now I'm wondering if Abbott should go through with the pardon immediately? Commute the sentence to time served (so dude doesn't stay in prison), but leave the appeal process open so it can be fought and overturned maybe? I don't want to see the appeal mooted.

From what I understand the AG is trying to tell him to wait

"the scene supervisor, a trooper, repeatedly emphasizes to the other law enforcement officers that the K9 should not be deployed as long as the suspect is complying with commands and has his hands up." + "Several troopers can be overheard on the video yelling at Speakman to “get his dog” and to “remove the dog” — the troopers, clearly upset that the K9 was unleashed and attacked in contra with their requests" = "An internal report conducted by the Circleville Police Department into the incident ruled that no excessive force was used in the arrest."

Dog did what it was told to do, it doesn't have moral agency. No, the dog should attack the cops before they are fired.
No animals that kill or abuse humans without being trained to do it need to be put down. That dog now could be more aggressive towards people who it should not be aggressive towards. There is a reason we hunt down man eaters, also people are protective of their pet animals the cops being forced to kill the dog will hurt them a lot.
