Well, well, PlanetSide 2 is getting a sequel. For those who don't know what PlanetSide is, imagine playing Battlefield, but on a distant planet with futuristic equipment, and literally hundrets of players in a given battlefield. PlanetSide 2 had at least 5 different maps, all surprisingly sized. The game has the current world record of most players in a single FPS game, namely 1158 players on one server. Might not sound impressive, but when you have battles in the air, on the ground, on the water, and everywhere else with hundrets of players on both sides, then you change your opinion reeaal quick.

However, a sequel has been announced that seems to plan a strong focus on Battle Royal gameplay for now.
However, this PlanetSide Arena is going to be the foundation for the PlanetSide 3 game, meaning it could be only one play-mode of the overall game.

A different article claims that PlanetSide 3 is going to be bigger than ever, with a direct quote being:
Players will fight a galactic war, creating empires, colonizing planets and battling for control of star systems.
Which is... uhh, sorry, but I can't really visualize it. There's Dawn of War: Soulstrom with its multiple conquerable planets, but it didn't work out well. Well, I will simply wait and see how the game will come out.

Personally, I'm going back to PlanetSide 2 again, but I should warn you: The game has a store for buying experience boosters and all that unpleasant stuff, but the full game is available without much issue.

I was in the NC and every time there'd be a battle for the maps, the TR would almost entirely vanish and the VS would roll over everything. Eventually killed my desire to play. There was also this strange acceleration issue with aiming being very janky that I was never able to fix. Hopefully 3 will be smoother

Isn't 2's metagame throughly screwed right now?

This video is a few years old, granted, but as far as I know the gameplay hasn't been totally reworked or anything since then to fix those core issues.

Ain't this that game that has had its graphics quality consistently lowered over the years -because- its servers and engine couldn't actually run the game very well due to its size? Unless they fix that, I feel like PS3 is going to be dead in the water and people have played the other two enough to know it has major problems that need fixing.
