Zendaya is a diversity hire that gets shoved on directors by the studios. "Diversity" (as I understand it) is a criteria for awards, and the execs are obsessed with those baubles.

The left really pulled a blinder on Hollywood there.

It's retarded though because there are quite a few Cafe con Leche type actresses that are way more talented than her. Hell Alexandra Shipp and Seychelle Gabriele might be crazy commies but both of them are capable of legit charisma when they put the energy into it and they're both gorgeous.

Yet they pick the camel faced Oakland gal because reasons...fuck if I know why.

Maybe the rumors about her father being affiliates with Suge Knight and Bobbie Mueller and the P Stones is why? Get a drug lord/paramilitary ethnonationalist's daughter into a Hollywood top spot and maybe he'll knock a few percentage points off the vig in the studio side hustles?

So just saw the movie and overall I liked. It has been a decade snice I read the book. But overall from what I remember it stayed pretty close. I am happy that they split the movie. It was a long movie and they only did half the book. That was the big strength of the Sci Fi mini series. You don't have to cut out large parts of the book to fit into a theater timeslot.

The movie was great visually and the acting was generally good. The strong point was that I didn't realize that the movie was over. Instead I caught up in the movie and didn't notice the time pass which is always a good since snice movies like Jungle Cruise had me checking my watch.

And,when Harkonnen attack was made much more logical,it was far less epic then Dune 1984.In Dune 2020 i simply said good work,in Dune 1984 i wonted go and die for Atrides.

Personally I liked the invasion. I thought the missiles that slowed down on impact where a nice visible effect. Not to mention that it showed a decent last stand Atrides troops run to their ships only to find a large force there and their ships being destroyed. They charge anyway knowing their is no chance. I also like how it showed Atrides troops generally holding till the Sardaukar came form behind.

Not to mention that Duncan Idaho was a surprise for me. I generally think that Jason Momoa is a one note actor. But here he plays the part of the loyal solider well. It fit within his abilities and you grew to like him enough that the last fight had a decent emotional impact.

Stellan Skarsgård also killed it as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. He brings to life the ruthless and cunning from the book better then the others. They even managed to make the flying menacing instead of silly like the 1984 movie or Sci Fi mini series.

So I enjoyed the movie and Hope that it does well enough to see part two get green light.

Head over heels in love :)
Regarding the original 1984 Dune battle, the Atreides seemed to have more flags than weapons, it wasn't really much of a fight.

True,it was silly, they also were running in circles shouting "Schield is down" - but still i wonted go and die for Atrides, when there was no the same effect for me in new version.Maybe i were just younger ?

P.S was were illogical for me was lack of armour for Atrides.Saudarkar and Harkonnen had armour under schields, but Atrides had not.Strange.It should help against slow blades

Watched this a few days ago. Liked it pretty well. Thought they did a really good job of making the combat seem very weird, with the shields, missiles and darts slowing down and basically burrowing through the shields, and the slowly cascading waterfalls of missiles that the Harkonnen's had. Whole movie had a fairly strange and otherworldy feel to it, which I thought was pretty fitting.

I think one of the best parts of the film, was the visions that Paul has. The part where he kills Jamis was very good, especially as we were shown Pauls visions of the possible future where he and Jamis were good friends. I think it was the best interpretation of Pauls visions, where it was explicit that he wasn't seeing the future, he was seeing every future.

Baron was 'meh' as the Baron.

Also, I am curious about One thing.

I can see the monarchist,Islamic and Middle Eastern themes.

But I have seen often accusations of fascismo or pro-fascism regarding the original book series.

Does this hold ground or It Is Just mindless gibberish?

BEAR IN MIND I HAVEN'T READ THE ORIGINAL BOOKS.

It's mindless gibberish stemming from butthurt over the fact that the greatest tyrant in the Dune universe was inspired by JFK.
