Ok. I watched the trailer on my computer and now I feel like a dunce. It's not a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment. The whole song is sung throughout the trailer. And as Scott Lowther pointed out, Pink Floyd was originally supposed to do the music for the original Dune movie before that deal fell through. That's a really neat connection.Looking forward to this as well. It's certainly got style and it looks like a faithful adaptation. I want to see how they go about adapting the politics and the philosophy without the novel's introspection.
Also, there's a blink and you'll miss it moment in the trailer where Pink Floyd lyrics are quoted. "All that you touch, and all that you see." They're the opening lines from the song Eclipse. It's a very strange inclusion, but a good one.
Pity, that Jodorowsky never made his version.I really wanted see Salvador Dali as Emperor.
It's worth a watch. His film would have been absolutely insane, and would certainly not have pleased anyone who wanted a film faithful to the book. But as an artistic project, it would have been spectacular.I wish there was a place I could see the documentary it for free but...

The internet tells me Jodorowskis Dune is free to watch on Amazon Prime. I will have to look into this.
While the 1984 movie is meh
The 1984 is fucking awesome. Really. It's on the same level as Stallone's Judge Dredd. It should be obligatory viewing at all schools.
Objectively speaking, it has a casual relation to the books; yes, the special effects are more like special defects, and agree on the sound track. But the end result is so campy that it's hilarious. The Special effect are poorly done even considering its age and the acting was so so. I will say the costumes and other set choices where well done. Not to mention they chose a good sound track.

Ah, I see where we disagree. For me, part of the reason it is so hilarious is the fact it takes itself seriously.I think that it never crossed that line for me. The movie took itself to seriously for me to be a campy cult classic. For me movies that a campy fun should be more like Sharkando. Ones that know what they are and do not try to be something else.
