Musk actually buys Twitter.

So apparently Twitter's Files were the subject of attempted sabotage from the inside.

Tl;Dr same guy who helped shape the "Russian Collusion" lie in 2016 and 17 was trying to block and stonewall releases of Twitter Files, because he was hired by Twitter after leaving the FBI.

He has been fired now by Elon, after he was asked to explain himself and provided a lackluster explanation.

I don't expect perfect everything from Musk, honestly if he burned the place down I would have considered that an improvement for all the harm Twitter is causing. I can say that I feel Twitter feels less insane than it was - of course that is my impression only. But revealing the shenanigans by the DMC with the former operators is worth the price of admission itself.

a pretty huge legally actionable deal.
This I doubt. They are not legally required to platform anyone they don't want to. It'd only be legally actionable if the government asked/demanded it of them. They did lie about it, but not to Congress, so that doesn't matter legally either. I still think it's bad, tbc. I just don't think it's gonna be anymore legally actionable than being laughed outta court.

It 100% is actionable. Twitter is a huge plataform, and they have gone on record before denying they did it.

This isn't like a TV station refusing to air political ads, that's true. But it is kinda like if you ordered a marketing company to mail 100k letters to people to get them to vote and they took your money and sent only 1k and the rest were printed and then burned.

Not to mention, like I said, Jack has gone on record multiple times on multiple courts saying this did not take place. He can claim "oh I wasn't aware" but that shit won't fly against the employees who DID know and did it.

Political ads have an entire raft of specific laws surrounding them, enough that I'm not familiar with how they work and can't have a well-informed opinion. That said I wouldn't be surprised if this did fall afoul of one of them, or if there was some special carveout just for political ads either.
