If getting a driver's license and a car is not viable in time, you can probably test into a Moped license without much difficulty if you're an experienced bicyclist. There's a restricted version of the motorcycle license in Alabama for mopeds that you could probably get.

Basically if you are 18 or older and have all the paperwork and everything you need to drive a vehicle, like the car, the insurance and someone who drove you there, you can basically form what I am reading, get a license once you pass the test

Also, be advised. The Roads in Alabama are complete shit. Sad to say they're just as bad if not worse in South Carolina. Only Georgia seems to be able to have nice roads they don't have to repave every 2 or 3 years. So make sure your shocks are good on your car and try to avoid potholes. Because the Potholes are likely much bigger than they look.

And the only reason Georgia has good roads is because of the various toll roads and pay for use fast lanes pay for the maintenance.

I mean, my state should be embarrassed. We had President Barrack Obama and President Donald Trump come through Columbia and say the exact same thing. Your roads are shit. You guys need to fix them. Some years later they still haven't fixed them though there is constant road construction.

Tons of construction but no results. Looks like a scam to me.

That said, at least Governor DeSantis told FDOT to get on the road construction projects during the lockdown.

Georgia DOT does a pretty good job. Now if only we could make MARTA a proper mass transit system

I think this is true of all states. Right now I live in Oklahoma and I quit my job five years ago because I was spending two hours waiting in a construction zone getting there, and didn't need a second job just going to work.

A couple weeks ago I went back to town on an errand. The construction zone was still there. Five years and it's still under construction. The entire transit system seems ripe for corruption in the country.

We have one and it is to get to and from ATL diring certain times. The roads were good even where I lived and that was at a county and city level because roads are important. 575 up until pickens county is pretty damn good and improved. I say up till then as it is no longer an state freeway and is a highway. But the roads to the north still do pretty good.

Construction projects in the south are pork barrel projects where the companies get contracts to expand roads and drive adjacent businesses out of business that also take ten years to complete because doing them fast means they get all that sweet money at once.

The road business-they have extraordinary influence in the South and make life inconvenient for everyone but themselves.

This makes sense. Interesting question, what would they think of a Gadsen rainbow flag? I mean, there's a sticker on my laptop of this, so people are likely to see me with it pretty frequently (though probably not at work, as I'm pretty sure they hand out laptops). My guess is that a good amount of the annoyance comes from people associating gay with democrat, so hopefully that solves some of the problem.

The biggest problem is talking about sex casually and in public. Everyone shits, that doesn't mean its not disgusting to talk about it. Just remember that it is a disgust reaction, not a hate reaction.

So I moved in the end of July, and I've been walking to work everyday, and so far it's been fine. I'm working on establishing a residency so I can take the driver's exam before it starts raining a lot in the fall and I can start going to a range. The only problem is that it's a new place, and a lot of things are closed down, so it's hard to meet new people outside of work (but that's a problem everywhere).

I'm really thankful for everyone's help by the way. I really enjoy it here.

Did you not have a car before? Driver's licenses usually receive reciprocity.

No, I don't have a license at all. I had no need for one in the Boston area.

Sorry, I'm late to the party. Beware of Kudzu! It is the Devil's weed and can easily hide snakes amongst its leaves. While down here you will see that yes it can swallow trees whole.

Another piece of advice Barbeque is going to vary WHERE you go. You have mustard-based sauce, tomato-based sauce, and vinegar-based sauce.

One staple breakfast item down here is biscuits and gravy. Basically, they take a buttermilk biscuit and break it in half or pieces. Then pour hot sausage gravy over it.

Lastly Beware of fire ants. They will tear you up. Enjoy your stay down here.
