That's the thing: most of the current women don't want responsibility, they want the perks with none of the duties that come with them.
I think that is a problem with people in general today, people want all of the benefit and none of the responsibility. They want to be able to take and not have to give back. Essentially there seems to be a tendency towards greedy, self-centered assholism.

Exactly. It isn’t about women, it’s about a society-wide abrogation of the very concept of responsibility.

Yes, correct. True. It is the individual person, regardless of the gender.
It's also nihilism, pleasure Island , and yeah not taking responsibility.

Further it occurs to me that we are all guilty to one degree or another, we are all caught up in this system and we all partake in these vices in one way or another.

I have been told pointblank before that any position on abortion is unacceptable except for abortion on demand, no restrictions, no cause, no purpose. You just feel like it when you wake up in the morning is explicitly a legitimate reason.
This is, very unfortunately, where the logical progression of the pro-abortion takes them. It's pointless discussing abortion or what limits should/should not be imposed because these people do not care, one way or the other, about the abortion issue. To them, its just an issue they can exploit to increase their own personal political power and influence. If they are granted their way on the issue at one level, they will immediately move to a more extreme position. They are part of a movement that craves political power and influence above all else and will make any argument necessary to maintain it. They share this with the gun-control crowd et al.

Proving that point is very simple. Go to the local pro-abortion or pro-gun control organizations and ask them what their objectives are. You will get a reply that sounds relatively moderate for example "oh, we just want women to have the right to terminate before X weeks or in Y circumstances" or "we just want reasonable gun laws and universal registration." Now ask the killer question. "If you achieve that objective, will you disband this organization and cease campaigning?" The answer is invariably "no."

So, these organizations, always seeking "the next step" so they can preserve their own power and influence will always make more extreme demands. Even the objective "abortion on demand, no restrictions, no cause, no purpose. You just feel like it when you wake up in the morning is explicitly a legitimate reason." is only a way-step. If that position is granted, they'll come back with a more extreme one.

Now I have to wonder what would be the "next step on" from abortion-on-demand, right up to the moment of birth. Right to euthanize unwanted newborns? Literal infant sacrifice to a big metal image of a humanoid with the head of a bull? (Though the Carthaginians were actually sacrificing to Baal Hammon, and the images looked more like Jordan Peterson with ram horns on the head)
Maybe getting to demand that other women also get abortions, whether they want to or not?

Quite possibly; some post-natal abortion techniques have already been proposed (one is crown piercing in which the crown of the baby's head is punctured with a knife-like implement as it emerges from the mother). Another "next step" might be demanding 'abort' being the default status unless the mother stipulates otherwise. The point is not the step itself but whether it provides the political organization in question with an excuse to keep on campaigning and thus provide income for its leaders.

Hey, I remember reading that one.
It had a woman who decided to get pregnant just so that she could have an abortion - since abortion was a fashionable thing to do.
And the Facility would let her take the dead fetus home with her afterwards in a bottle of preservative fluid, so that she could show it to all her friends.

It's available online in PDF form, too...

"But you see," Cynthia said, following him as he made his way to the master
closet to hang up his status-tie and class-coat, "it's the in thing now, to have
an abortion. Look, what do we have? A kid. We have Walter. Every time
someone comes over to visit and sees him, I know they're wondering. 'Where
did you screw up?' It's embarrassing." She added, "And the kind of abortions
they give now, for women in early stages -- it only costs one hundred
dollars. . . the price of ten gallons of gas! And you can talk about it with
practically everybody who drops by for hours."
Another pithy quote - a small boy's viewpoint:
He thought then about taxpayers and what they would look like. Something
that scowled at all children, he thought. That did not answer if the child
asked them a question. A thin face, lined with watch-worry grooves, eyes
always moving. Or maybe fat; one or the other. It was the thin one that
scared him; it didn't enjoy life nor want life to be. It flashed the message,
"Die, go away, sicken, don't exist." And the abortion truck was proof -- or
the instrument -- of it.
"Mom," he said, "how do you shut a County Facility? You know, the
abortion clinic where they take the babies and little kids."
"You go and petition the county legislature," his mother said.
"You know what I'd do?" he said. "I'd wait until there were no kids in there,
only county employees, and I'd firebomb it."
"Don't talk like that!" his mother said severely, and he saw on her face the
stiff lines of the thin taxpayer. And it frightened him; his own mother
frightened him. The cold and opaque eyes mirrored nothing, no soul inside,
and he thought, It's you who don't have a soul, you and your skinny messages
not-to-be. Not us.
And then he ran outside to play again.
