Looks like traffic will be resuming in the Suez Canal soon. They're in the process of refloating the big lady and getting her and the rest of the convoy traffic moving.

This could be as petty as just trying to sabotage the captain's career, as she's apparently Egypt's first female captain. Also the ship apparently drew a dick before heading into the canal and subsequently blocking it.

According to the Suez Canal Authority Chairman, everyday the Suez Canal is blocked costs between $14-15 million dollars a day. The Suez Canal itself, being host to 12% of the worldwide shipping traffic and according to Moody's, contributes 2% of Egypt's GDP.

BBC said:
Separately, data from Lloyd's List showed the stranded ship was holding up an estimated $9.6bn of trade along the waterway each day. That equates to $400m and 3.3 million tonnes of cargo an hour, or $6.7m a minute.

Looking at the bigger picture, German insurer Allianz said on Friday its analysis showed the blockage could cost global trade between $6bn to $10bn a week and reduce annual trade growth by 0.2 to 0.4 percentage points.

Shipping broker Braemar ACM told the Wall Street Journal that the cost of renting some vessels to ship cargo to and from Asia and the Middle East had jumped 47% to $2.2m.

Well looks like the Ever Given is not so free at least according to Egyptian officials who have now seized the ship and are demanding almost a billion dollars in compensatory payment.

Is the usual game between the Russians and Americans. In the navy, they sometimes hit the ship of the other nation. Real old game.
You have already seen several incidents with convoys from both forces in Syria.
