What If? Marvel held on to Transformers and added them to the MCU

One interesting note: When Transformers first appeared on the pop-culture scene in 1984, their comics were done by Marvel. There was even a crossover with Spider-Man.

So, suppose Marvel hadn't allowed Transformers to slip away... and the Avengers were fighting alongside Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and the Autobots?

You know, even Conan The Barbarian and some of HP Lovecraft's works/characters/places were in Marvel, I think that means those could be fused too

As for adding the Transformers, I presume that like the X-Men they'd sorta be pseudo-separate from the main universe

Putting them in the MCU maybe optional, I mean in the comics its not just the Asgardians but lots of other Gods who are real and they're not adding Hercules anytime soon, I think

I said this from about 2012, the smartest fucking thing they could have done to deal with Thanos was set up a classic Marvel villain. And the moment that shit FF reboot bombed, my thought immediately was "Cast Oscar Isaac as Victor Von Doom" because that fucker proved both in Robin Hood and X-men Apocalypse that he's basically Ricardo Montalbon reborn. The son of a bitch can ham the shit out of a fucking scene, scenery chew like a tumblrite at an all you can eat buffet and still somehow come off as legitimate and terrifying.

He's a fucking golden age actor basically or akin to Jack Nicholson without the cocaine and LSD any way. Someone who can be serious and have all the gravitas we associate with Oscar winners while still knowing when to have a fucking blast.

Any way, what they should've done was start end game not five years in the future but five or six months. With Stark, Banner, Rocket and Hank Pym failing to crack the Time Machine problem. Black Widow suggests that there's one guy they can reach out too and them all basically saying variants of hell no. Banner adding that there's no reason to suggest Thanos didn't take him out before assembling the stones, since he wasn't even present at Wakanda and no one's seen him in two years. Everyone insists it's too dangerous and after another failed attempt they opt to join Thor and Captain Marvel who are organizing a final brawl for the cosmos, even enlisting Mordu and Wong.

Black Widow heads to Latveria with Ant man, they find the place is totally fine, the Snap didn't effect it at all. They head to a castle that's rising out of a huge plateau at the center of the capital city. The doors are opened for them by mindslaved Ultron like bots and we see a myriad of magical relics and broken superhero armor from different eras. Imply Doom's found a way to retain his youth over the decades and he's the last of the golden age villains left. Cut away before they make it to the throne itself, so we only see ominous green lighting and what looks like a man of armor seated atop a throne.

Later? As Thanos is about to smash through all the heroes, their assembled cosmic allies? A green blast of energy knocks him through a Moon.

"Limited swine! Did you think your lack of imagination and your provincial ecoterrorism gave you the right to assault the very stars as if you had any purchase over them!?"

YOU DARE PRESUME?! FOOL! THIS IS THE UNIVERSE OF DOOM!

I would have loved to see Cap and Optimus chatting, or Loki and Starstream debating the finer points of treachery.

Ironically, to call back to the early Transformers comics, have Spider-Man meet Bumblebee... who cons his way in as a Stark Industries prototype.

Tony Stark then deploys the suit, and blasts Bumblebee.

"Peter, in what universe do you think I'd come within twenty feet of a 1971 Volkswagen Beetle?"

MCU is already pretty busy and crowded to be honest. Id prefer seeing, if there was a crossover film series, they could do it with that other old licensed setting known as GI Joe of which they've had plenty of comics based crossovers already.

We'd get movies a hell of a lot better than the Bayformers movies, at the very least, and they'd be a lot less afraid of adapting some of the crazier stuff. Some of the cosmic level Transformers stuff would fit right into the cosmic-level MCU stuff alongside Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy. A Transformers/GotG team-up to stop Unicron would be amazing.

(I typed and retyped Unicorn like five times before I actually got the name right >_>)

It could even be a separate group from the Autobots on Earth... kind of like the Japanese Headmasters continuity...

Plus like with the MCU they'd have an actual plan and vision for their Cinematic Universe and follow through with it. MCU did a great job with finding Directors who would work out amazing films while still following their general vision or outline for what the studio/producers ultimately wanted the movies to evolve into and weren't derailed by uncertainty or duds.

The Bayformer movies (and most cinematic universe attempts subsequently) were literally going at this one movie at a time and it shows with how bad the continuity and narrative suffers. There's no multiyear connection to these characters through lots of movies which each become "required" watching for most fans.

So yeah... can't do worse then the overall Bayformers saga (though I did like the first one a fair bit).
