I guess T.I. got dropped from future Antman films for being a bit too method in his acting as an ex-Con.

And who is Shang-Chi or is Marvel just going for whatever rando characters they can find?

Granted, the MCU kinda went pretty shitty with the run of Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron, Civil War, and then Endgame & Infinity Wars.

Sorry, if you wanted Cap and the Ex-vengers to be a thing then the writers really needed to do a much better job.

I mean Winter Soldier has the absolutely huge plot hole of none of them picking up a phone and calling Stark. Instead Cap decides to drop three aircraft carriers on DC and Wiki-Leaks 60 years of the worlds darkest secrets on zero notice before an Avenger of no real note decides to tell Congress that they need her. And all of this is kosher?

Age of Ultron, fine. Except for the tiny little fact that Wanda caused the whole shit fest in the first place and then intentionally unleashed an enraged Hulk on a major city. Only after realizing that maybe helping a murder bot end the entire human race was also bad for her did she decide to help deal with said murder bot. She was a willing Hydra terrorist, a mass murderer on her own merits, caused Ultron, and unleashed the Hulk on a city. She should have been shot out of hand, not invited to the Avengers.

Then you have Civil War, where Cap decides that the only one allowed to have an opinion is him and he gets to do whatever he wants because "I'm Captain America". Cap was the baddy of that movie, not Zemo.

Endgame and Infinity Wars are another separate shit fest.

Marvel trying what they did with Iron man, Cap and Thor.

Basically during the early 2000s Xmen and thier characters were more popular then other big name marvel characters.

So Marvel was like, let's make a movie about a well known on, but not super popular, how comics wernt selling the best, and hope for the best.
Next thing we know we have the MCU, and Cap and Thor get similar treatment.

Shang Chi is a lesser known but very classic Marvel hero, and are trying to get him some spotlight

The trailer didn't do all that much for me but I am pleased that it does seem Asian-American focused more then more China-Pandering crap. At least they can recognize a target audience for their films and realize that yes, they do watch movies and spend money on them.

And yeah, it shouldn't be surprising at all that a movie based on Shang Chi would be happening. He's not a yuuuuuge character, but he was strong enough to at least have name recognition for anyone who read Marvel Comics and carry his own series randomly over the years. Plus there's the fact that Marvel Netflix already introduced the MCU a fair number of mid-tier Marvel characters in popularity and thus I guess eliminated them from being utilized in the greater MCU so I don't have any problem at all with them making a Shang Chi movie.

But the trailer was kinda ho-hum. I expected something more. Nothing really seemed all that memorable to me or stood out. But then again it's just a teaser.

I got the same thing
I am kinda happy they are bringing out lesser known characters to the front lines

The MCU films, like most Hollywood blockbuster films, have always been primarily about the spectacle; the plot is really only there to get the characters from one action set piece to another, and maybe provide an opportunity for some funny interactions along the way.

Marvel released a Phase 4 Trailer for the next bunch of blockbuster movies they released.

They even dragged out Stan Lee's corpse to do some voiceover work (actually from his anti-Comicsgate video back in 2017). They're showing the movies currently set to be released from now til May 2023, so just over two years out.

I'm looking forward to Black Widow, Spiderman, Thor and the next Guardians.

Pretty ambivalent on all the rest of the movies.
Eternals could be good.
Definitely Spiderman and Thor.
And the black widow movie

I'm interested in what the Ten Rings is about. Its legitimately something new for me. I don't trust any iteration of Disney to do the Eternals justice though. And Black Widow should have come out before Infinity War and especially Endgame. Doing it now is like closing the barn door several years after the cows got out.

As an unrelated side note, I am in no way encouraging anyone to perform illegal acts, but privateering is an honorable profession in the face of Disney.

I agree that Black Widow is now incredibly badly timed. I'm wondering if I can get excited again, I kind of feel that the trip is over and this is done.

The first Eternals trailer has dropped.

Twitter loves it. Cool kids say its boring.

I didn't get any goosebump moments or whatever watching this trailer though so I can't say the trailer made me excited to see the movie. Looks like it could be the next Prometheus or uhhhh Prometheus 2? I forgot what the sequel was called.

Anyways it's a strong meh for me at the moment. Inhumans were more interesting but Marvel already bungled their debut.

Yeah, I feel nothing. The joke at the end doesn't work without context about the characters and I have no clue who these people are. Even the much better known DC Endless would need context to work. I can already predict that this will have too many characters to flesh out and we'll be stuck trying to root for a gang of vaguely two-dimensional cutouts a Marvel focus group thought ticked the most appropriate character boxes.

Perhaps it is just going to be a debut and not any one is going to die.
Prorbaly get to learn how each one got their Human names/the Myths they helped form.

this feels way more like a DC movie than a marvel movie.

Yeah... I feel this could be Marvel's first major flop... or something absolutely amazing. I give MCU a lot of credit in not releasing an out and out bad film yet IMHO and this is continuing its trend of hiring out of the ordinary Directors to direct yuge big budget films with lots of thick studio meddling which often turns out for the best. And Chloe Zhao (whose films I've never seen but from what I've heard and read are pretty out there indie type of films) seems to be one of the most random and out there Directors they could've chosen. So it could be AMAZING asf... and maybe it will be.

But I'm definitely going to wait and see.

I am expecting a movie mroe akin to foreign movies over the average American movie.
I see some Bollywood type aspects from the trailer. Maybe some Eastern style influences on it.

Idk, this could be one of those unknown groups that people lovebecause of it
