President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr has proclaimed it so!

White House said:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 2021 as Irish-American Heritage Month. I call upon all Americans to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Irish Americans to our Nation with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and programs.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this first day of March, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-one, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-fifth.

President Biden himself has Irish descent on both sides of his family (62.5%), though more prominently on his Mothers Side (the Finnegans).

Huh, surprised no one did this before.

Let's see if it sticks around past this year.

Yeah it's weird. It's blown up on social media for some reason. I think it has to do with the fact that Trump, clearly showing his anti-Hibernian bias, failed to proclaim it enough in 2017.

Or you know, failed to proclaim it until late afternoon... the horror!

Isn't March Women's History Month? How come women have to share their month with Irish?*

*This is a joke of course. March has an obscene number of official "Month of" labels. March is:
  • Women's History Month
  • Deaf History Month (March 13-April 15)
  • National Craft Month
  • Optimism Month
  • Honor Society Awareness Month
  • National Foreign Language Month
  • Irish American Heritage Month
  • National Ethics Month
  • Expanding Girls' Horizons in Science and Engineering Month
  • Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month
  • National Cheerleader Safety Month
  • National Kidney Month
  • National Nutrition Month
  • National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
  • Save Your Vision Month, Workplace Eye Wellness Month
  • Trisomy Awareness Month
  • Problem Gambling Awareness Month
  • Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month

So if you're an optimistic deaf female Irish engineer with an ethical gambling problem, multiple sclerosis, and colorectal cancer; this is your time to shine.

If anything it should be National Liver Month if we're talking about Irish Heritage. The Gambling, Vision, and Bleeding Disorders (depending on origin) are all at least tangentially related to Irishness.

Women and the Irish both share the connection of being worth only 77 percent of that of a proper, god-fearing WASP man, so sharing a month is just par for the course. Some might call Biden himself a misogynist or a race-traitor for abandoning his own Irish heritage or women to such a scheme, but really, he's probably just signing whatever his officials put in front of him so can't really be blamed.

More seriously...This is a matter of concern. It's evidence of Saint Patrick's Day once again expanding outwards from its previous confinement to a day (or weekend, on the occaison it lands upon one of those). In Christmas-like manner that holiday, notoriously Papist and drunken I should note, is advancing up the calendar. At this rate, like Thanksgiving or even Halloween with Christmas, the Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day will be absorbed into becoming Irish heritage celebrations. Imagine the horror, fellow Americans! Irish music in grocery stores!
The threat is real.

Actually seriously...Heritage months/days in the US are just excuse for partying in vaguely/possibly ethnic manner (possibly carnival-park ethnic manner, as Saint Pat's has kind of become in the US). Saint Pat's is for irish-themed partying, Native Pow-Wows are for native-themed partying, Oktoberfest is for German-themed partying, etc.

No objection to those parties, myself, but some people make the mistake of taking them seriously (and it IS hard to party for a proper heritage month. Especially with all the lockdowny BS going on).

So does that mean that it is now okay/politically correct to talk about how white people were slaves too? Who were conquered and robbed of their homes and deported and forced into slavery/indentured servitude until they were 21 years old, or after a period of 7 years had passed?

Special months for certain groups are stupid.

Again, every President since 1991 has done it annually.

Traditionally, the President makes the official proclamation on the last day of February. President Trump followed that traditional schedule in 2018 and 2020, but in 2017 and 2019 delivered it a day late on March 1.

Basically my thoughts on this.

If I were President, I'd buck tradition by declaring this to be Roman Heritage Month. It's not about the stabbing, but the coming together to stab. ;)

We can still celebrate Roman History during this month if only indirectly! :D
