ASOIAF/GOT Lyanna Stark actually got married to Robert and didn’t go with Rhaegar?

I’ve been wondering just how far Rickard Stark’s “Southern Ambitions” went and I don’t think the dude ever planned stuff like conquering the South

But he’d have ties with the Riverlands and the Stormlands through Brandon and Lyanna

Not sure whom he’d have Ned and Benjen married to, but he’d have ties to the South through them most likely

In-Regards to Rhaegar, I think he’d take power at some point with Aerys having a VERY public incident in which it’s decided he should “abdicate” or be put into a mental asylum in the Red Keep for awhile

I presume Jaime still ends up in the Kingsguard somehow and probably less likely to stay, mayhaps marry Lysa only to discover her reproductive system has been messed over

Also, Robert and Lyanna’s marriage rapidly falls apart and Robert actually gets to know Lyanna personally and gets severely increasingly disappointed while Lyanna’s miserable and pissed at Robert for not ever truly loving her and also constantly fucking around without a care in the world

Well firstly it depends on how you interpret the characters of Robert and Lyanna.

Either they have some early trouble and eventually find they have a lot in common, or they end up indifferent to or despising each other.

Rhaegar still likely plans to overthrow his father.

Two far extremes are-Robert and Lyanna hate each other, Robert cheats and Lyanna either holds her rage in silence or cheats herself. Or they discover they have a lot of chemistry and have nine children.

As always the likeliest scenario is somewhere in the middle.

The marriage starts rocky, but they are able to settle down with one another and have an average marriage? Not exceptional good, but good enough?
