Yeah, blasters seem either shoot some sort of 'packaged' exotic particles, or are just straight up particle beam guns. They're clearly not laser weapons.

The Jedi were split up into ones and twos, thanks to Palpatine clouding their visions they did not expect Order 66 and each Jedi was probably surrounded by high tens and low hundreds of clonetroopers, often with heavy gear.
And a large number even managed to survive the purge.
So, yeah, Palpy basically zergrushed them.
