Okay, I'm asking for help from the Sietch cause I can't find this story. I'm looking for a story that I found but can't seem to find again due to a computer crash and then mandatory system update. So I'm putting out the call for help.

I believe the story to be a crossover of sorts. Well...I 'think' it might be a crossover. Let me explain.

The story follows the Nathan James from the 'The Last Ship', though I didn't know that at the time as having never seen the show, but only recently I made the connection. The events sort of follow the pilot of the show with the Nathan James returning from the Artic. There is talk of a virus but the ship wasn't attacked by the Russians so that event was butterflied. for some reason. Things kind of matchup but are different from the pilot episode. They receive cryptic orders to refuel near France and are enroute. There is a weird electrical storm that hits them which is immediately followed by the nuclear attack in Europe, which at least is consistent with the Pilot episode. Nathan James is only able to take on slightly more than half her fuel, food and munitions and other supplies before the EMP knocks everything offline. Deciding to race back to American shores Captain Chandler breaks radio silence as he's finally fed up with the situation.

And that's when things get very...strange.

Radio operator cant raise anyone, which is consistent with the show. However he picks up an SOS in Morse code. He alerts the Captain who has him respond asking for details. The Ship claims to be the Titanic and that she has struck an ice berg and is sinking.
T
he crew is flabbergasted, the captain is angry that someone is playing some sick joke but the ship insists desperately they are sinking and gives coordinates which are only a few miles away which Radar confirms. They arrive to find a ship that is indeed the Titanic. Contact is made via flashlight mores code. Nathan James swings into action to save everyone they can while making a general distress call for any ship to aid them. But the crew is just...in a state of bewildered confusion yet focused determination as they try to save as many people as they can. There were 4 active points going on in the story when I lost it.

1.) Nathan James and Titanic made contact and the James pulls up along side the Titanic and opens gangways between the two ships to begin offloading passengers.

2.) An Engineering/Diver Team is attempting to underwater weld some of the breaches in the hull, specifically boiler 1 section to slow down the ontake of water while a second Engineer team is trying to connect pumps to use the James system to help fight the flooding. Titanic is going to sink, nothing can stop that. The Nathan James is just trying to buy time for more help to arrive and save as many as they can.

3.) A second dive/Seal Team is trying to make their way to the Boilers to save the trapped engineers and save them.

4.) The interactions between the Nathan James crew and the Titanic passengers and crew who come aboard Nathan James. Massive culture shock among other things.

Now, here is the thing. I'm not sure if this is a crossover with Titanic the movie (James Cameron). Some of the characters mentioned do match with the movie but also from history but there is no guarantee it is or isn't. This so far has been told from the POV from the crew of the Nathan James being thrust into this situation. It follows their stress and confusion as they deal with these impossible things and struggle to find a way to save this ship and crew.

Unfortunately this is the point where I lost the story. A computer crash followed by a mandatory update I couldn't postpone and all the information was wiped. I think it was on FF.net or maybe Ao3 but I cant be certain as I had quite a few windows open for both.

Cracks Knuckles.....

1: Alpha, Bravo and Charlie Damage Control Teams will board the ship along with the Seals to blow the locks on the tranverse doors in the hold. Gravity will cause the doors to fall into place. They will set up 10 P250 pumps to start pumping out as much water of the sealed spaces as they can.

2: Deck Department will be busy trying to splice together a canvas Air Bladder to inflate to help temporarily seal one of the breaches in the hull. A Gang will rig up air lines from the H-Pacs to inflate the the bladder once completed.

3: Sat and Baff teams will be keeping order on the ship when passengers are taken on board.

4: The Captain will be sending Morse Code alerts to Atlantic Fleet Command to get their asses to their location as fast as possible.

5: Both Helos will be in the air to rescue as much people as possible and get them to land.

6: They may or may not cut the Inflatable Life rafts loose to provide more life boats for the people leaving the Titanic.

7: Once they do all that they can every ships crewman that went to the Titanic will evac back to the Nathan James.

How much time would that reasonably buy them?

If everything goes to plan 5 hours maybe 6. But that is with everything falling in place together. But you can get a lot more people rescued in that time frame.

I figured as such. So nothing they do can save the ship?
