Let's talk about the current state of Black Lives Matter

This honestly sums it up best for me. They want to feel important, like their lives mean something, so they have to have causes even if the causes are disingenuous and ultimately counter-productive. The cause is not really to achieve the goal, the goal is to have a cause. Having a cause and acting on it manufactures meaning and self-importance, the more hopeless the cause the better, so long as there is enough of a following to construct an echo-chamber and provide funding. This is probably also partly why the "finish-line" is never stationary, as that would mean success of the cause which would then revoke their self-worth.

The funny thing is, this all reminds me of Jordan Peterson, where he's talking about how young people are starved for meaning and self-worth. It's... kind of a sad comparison. Like, you can become a fanatic, or you can take charge of your life.
Which is why “social justice”, “ending institutional racism” and so on are never ending cause celebrés.

I mean after the Oberfell decision the NYT ran an article where a lot of gay activists asked “well what are we going to do know, I know-gays are still discriminated against in housing!”

If your life is built around a cause, then when you win you either put up your activist cap and placards and celebrate your victory in peace(which about 99% of these people can’t do at all) or find another cause or an extension of the first one.

It’s a way of looking for meaning.

Especially for privileged people. The average say privileged white girl who supports BLM does so for a variety of reasons(some more...base) but an important one is having something meaningful to give her life to.

People especially young people actually don’t enjoy sitting around doing nothing. They want purpose and meaning through doing that gives or has implicit moral or social worth.

One thing I’ve noted that cause participation is proportional to how easy it is or “successful” it can be.

Which is why modern environmental activism isn’t widely promoted among youth anymore.

Because stopping climate change(the reality of it ignored for the moment) or species extinction is just not something a young twenty something activist has much power over real or felt. The extinction rebellion being less about the environment and more a general leftist “anti capitalist” sort of movement.

An activist needs to feel they are contributing and their contributions are having a real impact which is why we see a lot of what we see with BLM. While all the marches and tweets in the world aren’t going to stop the Chinese from driving elephants into extinction via the wildlife trade.

It’s a quest for meaning made.

It’s a quest for meaning made.

They’re all really “selfless” people, they like to say or think they’re the kind of “selfless” that really gives a damn about other people

But really they’re the kind of “selfless” people that have no real self-respect, no self-introspection and have their thoughts and opinions decided by other people. They force themselves into things which deep down they neither truly like nor truly believe in.

In-Contrast, I can say a more “selfish” person is by sheer comparison happier. A guy masturbating to 2B and A2 is happier than a guy repeatedly screeching about how they’re both extremely sexist and making some essays and praising Neil Druckmann and such.

Important update on the current state of Black Lives Matter.

It was basically inevitable that some of them would move to extortion as they have their peaceful riots. These local businesses can support a good cause whether they want to or not. ❤

I wasn't surprised at all, I was actually more surprised that it was news at all, not because the media wouldn't cover it but rather because I had kind of assumed they'd been doing this since the beginning.

"A Hobbs and a RICO, oh baby don't stop!" - Enemy of the State (a well named movie for such a quote)
However, I feel that it would more likely be a Hobbs in this case.

The RICO act is about organized crime
The RICO Act focuses specifically on racketeering and allows the leaders of a syndicate to be tried for the crimes they ordered others to do or assisted them in doing, closing a perceived loophole that allowed a person who instructed someone else to, for example, murder, to be exempt from the trial because they did not actually commit the crime personally.[1]

The Hobbs act is about interfering with free trade.
(a) Whoever in any way or degree obstructs, delays, or affects commerce or the movement of any article or commodity in commerce, by robbery or extortion or attempts or conspires to do so, commits, or threatens physical violence to any person or property in furtherance of a plan or purpose to do anything in violation of this section shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

Precisely as predicted. Expect to see a massive rise in ethnic mafias and gangs as the various shopowners will pay a tax to their local ethno-mafia to keep the social justice extortionists away. The real picky problem will be for white anglos, who have no ethnic mafias to protect them. In more rural areas, you might see biker gangs providing this service. Their businesses will suffer a great deal before they gain protectors.

I remember the talk a few months back about how terrible an idea it was to rely on the Italian Mafiya to deal with the Muslim Migrants

Someone pointed out how much horrible scum they are and how much increased power they’d be getting

People need to get guns legally or illegally, more likely illegally to protect themselves.....though I can see why they’d rely on Organized Crime

The latter is less afraid of getting arrested by police who are more used to hitting non-psycho and non-awful citizens to serve their Far Left masters

Last I checked, Rome and Greece or was it just Greece, whether its Left or Right are getting rather pissed and pushing to keep em out

Found this lovely article about some small business owner in Madison, Wisconsin by the name of Patrick Sweeney who owned several restaurants/bars in the area and yet is notorious for being emotionally abusive to his employees and colleagues, of domestic violence, stalking and other disturbing behavior that he engaged in under the excuse of possessing 'mental health issues' and using that as a shield for why he acted and how he too was a victim. One thing stood out about him though from the article of interest here:

Madison The Cap Times said:
Berkson and Sweeney touted themselves as leaders in the restaurant community, a team that revitalized the First Settlement District — the area just east of the Capitol, between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and South Blair Street — and prioritized their workers. They publicly supported Black Lives Matter protests and invested in de-escalation training, in which staff learned how to work with protesters and not call the police. In June 2020, they and several other restaurateurs launched a nonprofit called Cook It Forward to address food insecurity.

Inside the restaurants, Sweeney’s volatility, particularly when he’d been drinking, was an open secret. Colleagues and staff said they would “walk around on eggshells” when Sweeney came into the restaurants, afraid that some small thing would trigger his temper. He was known to scream at servers and berate staff in front of diners.

Tom Dufek worked for Merchant, Lucille and Rule No. One from 2012 to 2019. Half of his and the other managers’ jobs, he said, was “trying to insulate the people who work for us from him.”

“We tried to minimize the times we had to say, ‘Patrick shouldn’t have done that,’ and ‘I’m sorry that happened,’” Dufek said. “He said the most terrible things about the people who worked for him. There’s a lot of people that have a lot of scars because of him. He should not be in a position of leadership.”

Based on text messages and emails shared with the Cap Times, Sweeney’s response to internal criticism was to further disparage his employees. “What an idiot,” he responded after a dishwasher wrote to say she felt disrespected, lied to and mistreated. He called a longtime customer “crazy,” belittled staff and called a bartender “a piece of shit.”

“His behavior was the worst-kept secret of the First Settlement District for years,” said Evan Dannells, a chef at Merchant and Lucille from 2015 to 2019. At restaurants and bars downtown, Sweeney and his friends would party hard. Bartenders got to know them.

“Years ago at a place I was working, he was not wanting to pay his tab,” said Jamie McPeters, who tended bar at several Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company locations, Paul’s Club, The Harmony Bar and other spots. “He was being an asshole about it, and he tried to climb over the bar to have words with me about it.

UK Black Lives Matter leader Sasha Johnson (known for stating that her organization's goal is to make whites the slaves of blacks) got shot in the head by mistake, when four black men (who were likely gang members) opened fire on a party she was attending (either on foot or in a drive-by shooting; there are conflicting accounts), apparently because someone else was in attendance whom they took offence at.

This is important because her fellow activists wasted no time in trying to weaponize what happened to her to try and push their ideological agenda. At first they tried to claim that she had been targeted because of her activist work, but after that fell through, they moved on to blaming white people for black on black crime. Absolutely disgusting.
