Though it's been a long time in coming, Japan announced its roll out of it's own Space Force. It seems likely it'll work side by side with the American Space Force in countering the perfidious post-Red Menace of China and Russia amd possibly deal with things like those aliens who backstab us in every Godzilla movie.

This will undoubtedly result in a glorious future where America and Japan can rule the Universe as Master and Puppet.

But yes, just FYI this was at least five years in the making.

I should have expected that really

Oh God, they're going to raise the Yamamoto and strap some convoluted sci-fi engine to the thing, aren't they?
Oh God, they're going to go Gundam, aren't they?

...Well, since the first two one-liners to occur to me have already been taken:
Oh God, they're warning of 'new threats'? Earth has been found by the betentacled aliens Japanese media has been warning us about for so long, haven't we?

More seriously, it's a fair idea for any country. Space is becoming more a 'thing', and the inclusion of cyberspace tech-geeks within other branches always seemed a bit ill-fitting.

That said, I also have to kind'a tilt my head at this a slight bit in serious-mode because, to my (unresearched and possibly ignorant) understanding, Article 9 only bars Japan explicitly from air, land, and sea forces, so 'space' forces, beyond just being a fair idea in and of themselves, could be another workaround for the SDF, Japan, and Abe to have as a way to beef up their not-military even more in the same wink-and-nudge way as the SDFs been doing for the last years in other ways. Because Japan seems to have been--and I don't mean this as an objection really--playing a game of 'I'm not touching you!' with Article 9 and the bars on military power or exercise for a great while now with their reinterpretations of it with regards to coming to allies assistance with the SDF and their not-carriers that are definitely just for helicopters and disaster-relief and not VTOL aircraft like the F-35 and staring down China.

Do you have a non-RT source?

I don't doubt you, but I'd like a current link to the story that doesn't give RT ad revenue.

Yeah there's an AP story out there with an author who has a Japanese name so you know it's probably credible.

Japan still has a bit of a problem of not having enough babies atm

Also, someone before said that SJWs are setting their sights on Japan and already have some influence

They’re just lucky that those producing their entertainment tend to actually be fans of the stuff

Japan is merely ahead of the curve. Every nation that rises up from 3rd world status eventually runs demographic issues cause women don't have kids or few kids. Hence why I have proposed to just remove women from the reproductive process entirely via artificial wombs.

What about fathers to raise said kids?

Also, that tech will take awhile and if the electricity is cut off....well lots of dead babies

Well I made my post with the context in mind that there would be people who want kids but don't get married or have partners so single fathers or even mothers who want kids but don't want to carry them.

Okay, I think even DNA from Post-Menopause people can be used to make kids

A Space-Force for a nation with no spaceports? This should be interesting.
My guess is they are going to use Okinawa; more seismicly stable, which is a must for space-port level rocket launch/landing traffic.

Also, it's an existing US/Japanese base with large runways, so the logistics would be much simpler to adapt.

The Japanese Space Port is Tanegashima Space Center, where they launch H-IIA and H-IIB rockets.

Where will they get all the manual labor to do it?

Honestly, with Japan’s lack of enthusiasm for actually fucking and having children, I don’t think they’d have the ambition to really make this stuff a thing, if they build a mecha expect it not to really go into mass production
